. PAGE G Friflay, January 16, 1959 The Battalion College Station (Brazos County), Texas Boyer Must Know How to Find Ags Any Time of Day Harry Boyer has no children of his own but he has been a “father away fi'om home” to thousands of boys who have attended A&M dur ing the past quarter of a century. Although his title has changed from time to time, Boyer, who studied to be a scientist, has head ed the housing office at Aggieland since the eaidy thirties. As manager of housing, Boyer’s principal job is to assign living quarters to the' more than 6,000 students at A&M. He is one of the men whom Xg- gies have called over the years when they were in need of emer gency assistance. Being listed under information, HOWLING SUCCESS LA CUEVA, N. M. Col. William Salman, rancher-farmer in New Mexico’s Mora County, says he believes in complementing the work of nature rather than trying to rock nature’s boat. “My neighbors wanted me to go in with them on poisoning the coyotes, and against my better judgment, I did,” he says. “Now w r e don’t have coyotes, but boy, do we have rabbits!” his office gets all sorts of calls. After a football game not long ago a man called fi'om New York re questing the exact score. Others call to ask about the school colors, enrollment, or such things as who was the third president of the col lege. Although he doesn’t claim to know' every boy by name, or where every boy is quartered, Boyer can get a message to any student with in minutes. In case of emergency, the message is taken directly to the student whether he is in his dormitory, classroom or laboratory. A native of Blanket in Brown County, Boyer has been employed by A&M since graduating from John Tarleton College in Septem ber, 1926. He was named post master and assistant manager of the exchange store at John Tarle ton, now Tarleton State College, after he graduated. Three years later he entered A&M and graduated in June, 1931, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Entomology. Soon afterward, he became office manager of the Commandant’s Office and was in charge of college housing. He was named chief of housing in 1946. -jippM Imp® ■■■T"" Zfff • f liij if' n mil M Churches Announce Services B'nai B’rith Hillel Foundation The B’nai B’rith Hillel Founda tion will hold regular religious services at 7:30 Friday night in the Hillel Foundation Building. ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the grcalcsl factor on earth ‘for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily. To us it means that we have not forgotten the heart of life. We haven’t lost sight of the spiritual center toward which the Church constantly points our vision. And to our children it means a family life based on faith and prayer. Of course, our “blessing” or “grace” is only a small part of the Christian Life to which the Church calls us. But, like every piece in a puzzle, it belongs there! And the sooner we put all the pieces in place, the sooner we’ll understand the WHOLE PICTURE. Copyright I9S9, Keister Adv. Service. Strasburg, Va.
