Purpose of the conference is for
reports to determine the feasibility
of berthing, loadinv »nd unloading
ships in rointivoty unprotected wa
ters now that sotne tankers and
hulk cargo camera are too large
for existing piers and wharves.
Wilson's remarks will be in con
nection with the response of a ship
to waves and methods of estimated
total kinetic energy which must
be absorbed in permissible defor-
malions of the ship, the fender
system and the pier.

and Meteorology are attending
meetings this week at Biloxi, Mis*,,
and El Paso

department, Dr. K M Rae and
Albert W Collier will be in Biloxi

of the Gulf Coast.

El Paso to take part in the First
National Conference on High At

weather studies in West .Texas.

The A&M Debate Team’s sched
ule will open competition with a
tournament on Nov. 21-22 in
which all Southwest Conference
schools will participate.
They will also compete with
Fast Central State College, Ada,
Okla., Baylor University; Waco,
Abilene Christian College, Abilens
and the University of Texas, Aus-
tin.
The team meets in Room 211
of the Academic Building every
Monday at 7:30 pm.
Officers elected at the end of
last year are Henry Lyle, history
major from Houston, president;
Jay Hirsch, pre law major from
Houston, vice-president; and Ben
Yudesis, language major from San
Benito, secretary-treasurer

Start Rehearsals
The Singing < adeta under the
direction of Bill (lop) Turnei, co
ordinator of music activities,
started rehearsals last week in
preparation for this year’s activit
ies.
This year * activities include a
tour through South Texas some
time this fall on which they will
give concerts at San Angelo, Edna,
W. atherford and Dallas, Turner
said.

a conceir in Guion Hall.
They also annually appear on
