Orlando Cossani, 24-year-old Argentinian, captured individual scoring honors with 19 points. The short butterfly specialist took two first places and set one new con ference mark as he pushed the Ag gies to a clear-cut second place standing in the conference with 91 points. Cossani sped to a new record in the 200-yard butterfly race as he clipped six and nine-tenths seconds off the old mark with a time of 2:16 flat. A&M’s only other first in the meet came when the ace swimmer copped the 200-yard individual medley. Newton, a 6-0 lefthander from Galveston who was expedited with the win, pitched six innings for A&M, striking out seven while walking eight and bringing his sea son record to 2-1. Hullum finished the contest, whiffing three and walking none. The Aggie defense was supei'b, as the fielders made no miscues and racked up.three double plays, bringing the season double play total to five—which incidentally equals the double play pi’oduction of the 1957 team for the entire sea son. Ed Dudley then boomed a long triple off the boards in left-center, scoring Hex-rington. Dudley scored from third on Stone’s fnfield single to end the scoring. The Aggies travel to Houstep this afternoon to play the Houston Cougars in a return match. In the season opener, the Cadets blanked Houston, 4-0, for their only defeat of the season to this date.
