Pace Team Wins
By BOB WEEKLEY
Numbing cold and blustery winds
greeted the Aggie nine yesterday
as the trotted out onto Kyle Field
% for their first outdoor practice
session since Tuesday.
The P’armers pitching staff, once
: considered the weak sisters of the
„ league, have limbered up their
throwing arms and limited the op
posing batters to only 19 hits this
season.
Donnie Hullum, the strong arm
man from Baytown, has faced 46
sluggers, struck out ten, walked
six and given up nine hits in
twelve innings on the mound. The
6-0 junior letterman has an earn
ed run average of 1.33. Only one
run has crossed the plate during
<4 his tenure on the pitching rubber.
Hullum is credited with a win
against Sam Houston State.
Co-Captain Toby Newton, main-
4 stay of the Aggie staff, has struck
out 12 men and given up three
runs and five hits for an ERA of
2.82. The slender two year letter-
man has faced 31 batters in 9-%
innings and walked nine. Newton
has one win and loss to his credit.
Righthander Percy Sanderson
chalked up his first win of the
season Tuesday against Texas
Lutheran. The sophomore sensa
tion has pitched nine innings of
ball, six of them consecutive, and
„ given up one run and three hits
for a 1.00 ERA. Sanderson
has struck out five batters and
has yet to walk his first man.
Twenty nine batters have faced
Sanderson.
Lanky Wayne Schaper has been
the outstanding relief man for
Coach Beau Bell’s team. The 6-6
junior has pitched three innings
of ball, allowed one hit and no
runs for an ERA of 0.00. He has
struck out three batters and walk
ed one in facing nine men.
Bo Paradowski, lefthander from
Bryan, has toed the mound for
three innings and given up one run
and hit for an ERA of 3.00. Para
dowski has walked two men of the
nine he faced.
In x-acking up a 3-1 record this
season the Aggies have collected
19 x-uns on 30 hits compared to
their opponents six x-uns on 19
hits. The Cadets have left 25 men
on base.
The sophomoi'e infield of Bill
Houchin, Dink Patterson and Ralph
Plumlee have turned in outstand
ing jobs in their positions. The
young threesome have combined
their talents to make 42 outs and
19 assists. The double play combi
nation of Patterson, Plumlee and
Houchin have put teamwork to
gether with speed and collected
two double plays.
Despite a lack of practice since
workouts began Feb. 15 the
Farmers have played almost flaw
less ball and given up only three
errors. Their opponents have
blundex*ed nine times.

It was sad.
when that great ship went down and the
last thing to leave the sinking ship was
a bottle of Coca-Cola. That’s because all
hands stuck to Coke to the end. Now there’s
popularity! That’s the kind of loyalty
the sparkling lift, the good taste of Coke
engenders. Man the lifeboats, have a Coke!
