    3 Elected To Fill
Vacant CSC Berths
Three men have been elected to
fill vacancies on the -Civilian Stu
dent Council, Bennie Zinn, head of
the Department of Student Affiars
said Tuesday.
Elected were James A. Ulmer,
Puryear Hall, to repi'esent the
freshman class; John K. Steadman,
Law Hall, for the juniors; and
Harold E. Brown, who was chosen
for Project Houses.

Six summer fellowships are be
ing offered by the Scripps Institu
tion of Oceanography of La Jolla,
* Calif., open to men with two or
more years of college training, pre
ferably in science and engineering.
Applicants selected will take an
oceanographic expedition off the
Central American coast, he said.
The stipend for the full time is
$200, and there will be no expenses
while at sea. Work during the
expedition will almost exclusively
be physical oceanography, with the
main object being to measure the
surface and subsurface currents in
that region.
From June 23 through July 18,
a special course in meteorology
will be given to a selected group
of 30 mathematics or physical
science students at the University
of Chicago.
3 Ag Scholarships
'To Be Given in ’59
A series of three scholarship
and fellowship grants will be
‘awarded by the Ralston Purina
Company to qualified School of
Agriculture students in 1958-59,
R. E. Leighton, chairman of Agri
cultural Scholarships Committee,
said this week.
The grants include a $500
scholarship, a summer fellowship
and a scholarship to the American
Youth Foundation Leadership
Training Camp.
Applicants for the summer fel
lowship should pick up application
blanks at the Agricultural Dean’s
office.

plus travel expenses will be paid.

Lions Club Sees
Hurricane Film
College Station Lions saw a film
Monday on the destruction wrought
on the Louisiana coast by Hurri
cane Audrey, 1957’s worst hurri
cane.
The film was furnished by the
General Adjustment Bureau thru
local insurance agents. In turn,
local insurance men were guests
at the Lions’ luncheon in the Me
morial Student Center.
