Building Underway On Hillel Chapel Construction of a new $125,000 chapel on the corner of Jersey and Dexter Streets is now underway by A&M’s B’nai B’rith Hillel Foun dation. Ground-breaking ceremonies, at which A&M President M. T. Har rington delivered the principal ad dress, were held Thanksgiving Day. The building will consist of three main parts: administrative, recrea tional and ■ chapel areas. Besides furnishing permanent seating for 60 people, with provi sions to permit expansion into the lounge area on special occasions, the chapel plans call for a pei’- manent Bima, Ark and pulpit in the sanctuary. Gordon Hill of R. B. Butler Inc. of Bryan, general contractor of the project, said construction of the chapel would take about six months. The building will be built, ledge- stone, with wood paneling, accous- tical ceilings, aluminum windows and terrazo floors. Electrical work on the project is being done by Harris Electric Co., and mechanical contractor is the Natkin Co. of Houston. Lenart Gabei’t, Houston, project architect, and Jack J. Foreman, Houston, general building chair man of the B’nai B’rith Buildipg Corporation, both former Aggies, are working on the project.
