Harrington will be hostess to the Newcomers Club at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon with a garden party at her home. The affair will open the 20th season of the club, a branch of the Women’s Social Club of A&M. Traditionally, the party will offer an opportunity for wives of new members of the A&M faculty "t - and staff to become acquainted with other members of the group. Purposes of the club will be ex plained and the program of the coming year outlined. Regular meetings of the club are held on the first and tim’d Wednesdays of each month. Planned programs, held in the New Of ficers Of Study Club Honored At Tea Campus Study Club enter tained members and guests Tuesday afternoon at a tea honoring incoming officers. Oficers in the receiving line at the affair, held in the Memorial Student Center, were Miss Jennie Oliver, president; Mrs. R. B. Boss ier, Mrs. C. F. Pruitt, Mrs. B. F. K. Mullins, Mrs. Bardin Nelson and Mrs. J. C. Brusse. Also present to receive were Mrs. A. G. Nixon, president of the Women’s Club; Mrs. G. O. Hoff man, president of the Extension Service Club; Mrs. R. B. Reid, rep resenting Beta Sigma Phi, and Mrs. R. J. Fickey, representing the Reading Club. Centering the tea table was an autumn arrangement of chrysan themums, straw flowers and fruit in two crystal cornucopias, flanked by yellow candles in silver candel- abi’a. Mrs. R. L. Brown arranged the decorations. During the afternoon Mi's. Brown and Mrs. C. W. Crawford, life members of the club, presided at the coffee service. Mrs. W. S. Sixty Altend Coffee Given By Churches Sixty women gathered Monday morning at the A&M Presbyterian Church for- the newcomer’s coffee sponsored by the College Station Council of Church Women. , At the business meeting held following the coffee hour, the fol lowing officers were elected for the coming year: Mrs. Harold Soren sen', president; Mrs. Robert Bossier, first vice president; Mrs. W. O. Parker, second vice president; Mrs. Ira Scott, secretary, and Mrs. Bob Andrews, treasurer. The outgoing vice president, Mrs. Norman Anderson, presided at the meeting. Mrs. C. B. Campbell ex tended a welcome to the group, and Mrs. W. C. Adams offered the devotional on “Faith.” A. review of ‘ the early organi zation of the council was given by Mrs. Anderson. It was announced that the council will send $25 to the Austin State School for men tally retarded children, to be added to the chapel fund. Farm Show Slated By Houston C of C Texas vegetables and fruits will take the spotlight at the Farm Products Exposition in Houston Nov. 22-24, along with produce from throughout the country and from Central and South America. The show, held in observance of Farm-City Week, is sponsored by the Agriculture Committee of the Houston Chamber of Commerce, and will be accommodated in the 3-year-old, $3 Ms million Produce Terminal. Demonstration of freezing of fruits and vegetables and display of all types of agricultural ma chinery and equipment will be add ed attractions to the ‘rabbit” show.
