RANGER COOKIES
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
% teaspoon salt
1 cup coconut (1 can)
2 cups oatmeal 1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream ifliortening and sugar. Add eggs, corn flakes, oatmeal and
flour and mix Well. Mix in soda, baking powder and salt. Then add
coconut and vanilla. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfulls on cookie
sheet. Cook in 350-degree oven 12 minutes. Makes about IVv. dozen.
BARBECUED CHICKEN
Coat 2-pound fryer with melted butter or margarine. Place in
shallow baking pan and add 2 cups barbecue sauce. Bake, uncovered,
in moderate oven (350 degrees) 1 hour or until tender. Serves 4.
BARBECUE SAUCE
1 teaspoon salt % cup catsup
% teaspoon pepper % cup water
1 tablesi>oon paprika % cup lemon juice or
1 tablespoon sugar vinegar
% teaspoon garlic salt 1 tablespoon Worcestershire
1 medium onion, chopped sauce
Blend salt, pepper- paprika and sugar. Add remaining ingredients.
Bring to boil and pour over chicken.
TOSSED NEW POTATOES
2 No. 2 cans new potatoes Vh teaspoon pepper
1 egg bread crumbs
V 2 cup milk % cup melted butter or
% teaspoon salt margarine
Drain potatoes. Combine egg, milk, salt and pepper. Roll cooked
potatoes in egg mixture, then in bread crumbs. Arrange in shallow
baking pan. Pour over melted butter or margarine. Bake in moder
ate oven (350 degrees) 30 minutes. Serves 4.

McAllen was the scene of recent
nuptial rites uniting Miss
Thomasina Faye Harris of Mc
Allen and Lt. Robert Stanley Stuart
of Edcouch, a May graduate of
A&M.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mi’s. T. Eric Harris, and the
groom is the son of the Edwin R.
Stuarts of Edcouch.
Mrs. Ronald R. Spangenberg of
Waco attended the bride as matron
of honor, while Harless Benthul of
Dallas served as best man.
Following a reception at the Val
ley Petioleum Club, the newlyweds
left for a honeymoon in Monterey.
Upon their return, they will
visit in McAllen and Chicago be
fore going to New York City
where Lt. Stuart will receive train
ing for foreign duty with the Air
Force.
After July 10, the Stuarts will
make their home at Sembach Air
Base, Germany, while he is serving
a three-year tour of duty.
