The Shorthorns will appear here against the Fish next Tuesday at 3 p.m. on Kyle Field. A&M has a 5-1 record this year and Texas is 6-0. The Freshman put together three, two-run innings in the fourth, sixth and eighth for the win over Allen with Pettavino helping his own cause by singling in two runs. J. B. Carroll also batted in two runs on a single and sacrifice fly. Tuesday Coach Les Palmer’s Fish copped a doubleheader from the Baylor Cubs in Waco with Per cy Sanderson winning the opener 7-2 and Hollis Hood twirling a fine, two-hit shutout in the second game to win 9-0. Catcher Gerald Walling of Spring Branch gained some .197 percentage points in the three games and is now batting a fine .364. Walling batted in three runs in the first Baylor game and got two hits in each of the last three games. He leads in RBIs with eight. Lefthanded first baseman Bill Houchin took over the batting lead on the team with .391 and has five RBIs. Jess Foster, centerfielder, slapped out a triple and single and batted in two runs to pace A&M hitters in the second Baylor game, although his average dropped somewhat. He is batting .375 on nine hits and also has two doubles. Sanderson has pitched the most innings for the Fish at 27 to post an ERA of 2.98 and striking out 18 and walking 19 in the process. Pettavino has the top ERA at 0.72 for 13 innings. He has struck out 10 and walked six. The Lake Jackson righthander, Hood, was impressive against the Cubs and his ERA dropped to 1.93 in 14 innings. Hood has walked only five and sent 10 batters down swinging. 29c Lb. Team championships have been decided in both sports with Baylor winning the golf title and A&M and the University of Texas tying for the runner-up position. Under conference rules, the first and sec ond team send four men each to the league meet while third and fourth send two and the others one. Since the Aggies and the Long horns tied for second, it was de cided that Baylor would have four, A&M and Texas three each. The golf tournament, with 15 entries, is at the Austin Country Club with 72 holes to be played. The tennis tourney will be at the Penick courts and has 16 entries. Sammy Giammalva of Texas re turns to defend his tennis singles crown, teaming with a new part ner—Richard Keaton—in the doub les defense.
