The Bryan-College Station Chap ter presents a study course pro gram the fourth Tuesday evening of each month. All interested secretaries may contact Mrs. Kelly Francklow or Miss Alma Kasner. Mrs. Clyde Bailey is chairman for local Secretaries Week activi ties. Churches Make Plans For Mill week Services Study Clubbers Enjoy Program Of Texas Lore A Texas Day program by Mrs. Tom King was enjoyed by Campus Study Club members at their meet ing last week. Mrs. King gave readings from Boyce House’s new book, “The Texas Treasure Chest,” a compila tion of stories of Texas. She told of the unique character of the cow boys and of the romantic story of the longhorns and their contribu tion to the building of the West. During the business meeting, the club voted to send Mrs. W. S. Allen, incoming president, as delegate to the state meeting of Texas Federa tion of Women’s Clubs to be held in Waco May 6-9. SPORTS SLANTS (Continued from Page 3) swimming will he continued by the participants after graduation. The major sports such as football, has ketball, baseball and track will see very few athletes continuing after school days and even fewer as pro fessionals. This is true of boxing and wrestling, but that is no rea son to deprive the few men who love physical contact enough to want to box from participating. Granted that few of the Texas colleges have boxing teams or clubs, but is that any reason why we shouldn’t have one? Of course not! There is no intercollegiate fencing, ping pong, horseshoes or wrestling, either, but that doesn’t keep A&M from recognizing those sports and it shouldn’t keep box ing out of the picture, either. Coached by Andy York, the Ag gie fighters have not sustained anything more than a minor injury in the three years they have been in existence. The supervision has been more than sufficient even though the facilities are not up to par, but very few are for any sport at A&M. The boxers have been working out in DeWai'e Field House and the Little Gym in the past and seem to have been getting along adequately there*. More in juries have been sustained in in tramural sports, even in percen tage participating, than in boxing on the campus. This point is not much of an argument. If the Aggie Boxing Club has members that are not students at the college, Penberthy’s last rea son is the only one worth mention, but a simple rule limiting partici pation to A&M students would quickly remedy the situation. BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH Services for this evening have been cancelled, since the pastor, the Rev. William C. Petersen, is in Austin for the convention of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He will return in time for the membership lecture Friday night.
