FRIDAY PREVUE—I! P.M.
“Written on The
Wind”
Editor,
The Battalion:
As a frequent visitor to the
Texas A&M campus and a great
admirer of your school, may I
offer a comment on a wonderful
Aggie tradition which may be slip
ping a bit. I refer to the “Howdy!”
greeting which meets every visitor
as he crosses the campus.
There may be some among the
students or faculty who tend to
ridicule this fine tradition. How
ever, let me assure you that it
gives an outsider a welcome feel-
ing-a feeling which is found on
no other campus in the land. I’m
not an Aggie graduate and I’m not
a Texan but I have seen enough
of Texas A&M graduates and your
fine school to know that this is
one significant thing that sets your
school a little higher and makes
it the fine institution it is.
Very truly yours,
W. H. Younger,
Eastern Sales Manager,

Robert Allen Hemsley, freshman
business administration major from
Pasadena,- received minor injuries
when he was hit by a car Friday
night as he was returning to his
dormitory from the Harlem Globe
trotter show.
Hemsley was proceeding across
Houston St. from the MSC to Biz-
zell Hall through the heavy traffic
from White Coliseum when the ac
cident occurred.
The driver of the car that knock
ed him to the pavement was blinded
by the headlights of other cars,
causing him not to see Hemsley.
Also, the street was wet making
it hard to stop in time to avoid
the accident.
As a result of the accident
Hemsley suffered from a sprained
ankle and minor scratches and
bruises. Over the week-end he was
treated by the College Hospital
for sore muscles.
“When I looked up the car was
about ten feet from me, then it was
too late to get out of the way,”
Hemsley said.
