Bryan Church of the Nazarene
“We Walk by Faith and N<?t
by Sight!” will be the topic pf
the sermpn delivered by the Rev.
J. W. Farris at the Sunday morn
ing service. The evening sermon
will have as its topic, “The Pro
phet Elijah.”
Revival at the church will be
gin at 7:30 p.m. Monday with a
message by the Rev. Granville
Rodgers of the Houston Oakwood
Church of the Nazarene. Revival
will continue through Jan. 20.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
Aggie Bible Class will meet at
9:30 a.m., together with other
church school classes. At the
morning service, the Rev. Edwin
A. Svendsen will speak on “A
Shocking Obedience,” based on the
text from Luke 2:42-52.
Sunday afternoon at 4 the
Young Marrieds will have their
monthly social—a bowling party

St. Thomas Episcopal Church
The Rev. Roger Cilley will de
liver the Sunday morning sermons.
The Young People’s Group will
meet at 6 p.m.
The regular monthly meeting
of the Women’s Auxiliary will be
held Monday, beginning with a
service of Holy Communion at
7:30 p.m. The program will be
a panel discussion on the subject,
“How Can I Best Serve My
Church?”
The Episcopal Men of Brazos
County will hold their monthly
meeting Tuesday evening at St.
Thomas Chapel. A dinner will be
served at 6:30 in the Parish Hall,
followed by a discussion program
presented by the men of St. An
drew's Church, Bryan.
Holy Communion, followed by
breakfast in the Parish Hall, is
scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Wednes
day.
History was made at the an
nual meeting of the Chapel Mon
day evening, when the congrega
tion voted to apply tq the Council
of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas
for union as a parish church.
This means that the local con
gregation will take on added re
sponsibilities and thereby be gran
ted the privilege of directing its
own affairs through its elected
officials who make up the vestry.
Elected to the vestry were Dr.
Milton Nance, Dr. Carroll Laver-
ty, Lt. Col. George Watson, John
Teamer, Charles Pearce, Capt.
Rolla Griffith, Dr. T. S. Burkhal-
ter, Dr. Robert Darrow and Wil
liam Parker.
Elected as delegates and alter
nates to the 108th Council of the
Diocese of Texas to be held Jan.
24-26 in Galveston were Dr. La-
verty, Parker, Raymond Hite,
Mike Krenitsky, George Huebner,
John Teamer, Dr. Burkhalter and
Pearce.
Wesley Foundation
Vespers will be conducted at
7:05 p.m. today and Monday. The
college class will meet at .9:45
a.m. Sunday, and the supper will
be served at 5:30 p.m.
St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel
Saturday Mass will be celebra

cap and gown, and to leave the hoods
with the Registrar no later than 1 p.m.,
Tuesday, Jan. 15. The Ph.D. hoods will
not be worn in the procession since all such
candidates will, be hooded on the stage.
Candidates for the Master’s Degree will
wear the master’s cap and gown,; those
who both are candidates for the Bachelor’s

Rabbi Louis Firestein, associ
ate rabbi of Temple Emanu El,
Houston, will be guest speaker at
the cultural meeting of the B’nai
BTith Hillel Foundation at 7:15
p.m. Wednesday in the YMCA
Building.
Rabbi Firestein will discuss tbe
sources of strength in Judaism
which have helped it survive
through the ages, basing his talk
on a recent book by Rabbi Hillel
Silver.
A graduate of Yesbivab Uni
versity, the Hebrew Union College
and the Jewish Institute of Re
ligion, Rabbi Firestein also holds
the degrees of bachelor and master
of Hebrew letters.
He was ordained rabbi in 1953
and served as chaplain iq the Air
Force before joining Temple
Emanu El in 1955. At present he
also serves as civilian Jewish
chaplain for Bryan Air Force
Base.

Baylor, SoRelle is a deacon in

Captain James E. Cohn, USN,
will speak in. the Biological

day night on “The Navy’s Antartic
Operations.”
Captain Cohn, commanding of

ticipated in three polar expeditions
and served as Chief of Staff to
Admiral Turner Joy in three com
mands during World War II.
