With a pair of Southwest Conference defeats behind
them, A&M’s improving cagers tangle with the nation’s
fourth-ranked five, the SMU Mustangs tonight at 8 in White
Coliseum.
The Aggie Fish look to improve their 1-1 record against
Wharton Junior College at 6 p.m.
Behind by 19 points at halftime, Coach Ken Loeffler’s
quintet abandoned the zone defense and almost ran the Ar
kansas Razorbacks off the court Saturday night, but the
Ozark gang held on to their lead to win, 72-65.
The Aggies, now 4-10 on the season, run into an SMU
five that has averaged 82.3 points-per-game and own the
services of what well might

history, Jim Krebs. Krebs,

24.3 average into tonight’s
game, having scored 292 points
in 12 games. The Mustangs only
loss was to Kentucky.
A&M counters with George Me-
haffey and Niel Swisher, who
have thrown in 212 and 189 points,
respectively. Swisher, who stands
seventh in the conference scoring,
leads the league’s “small” men in
that depai’tment while Mehaffey
owns fifth place in the standings.
Swisher paced the Aggie scoring
with 21 points against Arkansas
while Mehaffey had 17.
Loeffler will probably start the

Razoi’backs with Swisher and Ted
Harrod, who hit his season high

Ken Hutto and Ernie Turner at
forwards and Mehaffey at center,
