tive from the Kiwanis Club, Lions
Club, Civic Association, School
Board and the County Judge. This
group will discuss long range ex
pansion at the council’s next meet
ing.
Boswell was asked to have a test
drilling done at the City Cemetery
to determine if a water well for
irrigation purposes would be prac
tical. Boswell will collect data
and call for bids on the well be
fore next meeting.
The council canvassed voting by
city employees on the retirement
system. In a unanimous vote, the
25 employees affected, voted to
lower rates from 5% to 3%.
Discussion was held on the North
Gate parking’ problem. It was
suggested that the city employ at
least one more policeman to patrol
the North Gate and enforce pai’k-
ing limits there. Boswell was ask
ed to investigate the situation.

malice is intended.
The reasoning may be illogical
and the opinions unstable, but as in
business law I hope the “intent” is
plain.

This letter is directed to the
Cadet Colonel of the Corps. As a
recent transfer student I came to
A&M with the idea that it was a
fine school and that part of this
fineness was due to the Corps.
This opinion of the Corps has
been reduced steadily day by day
because everytime I open The Bat
talion some one of your Cadets
makes an obnoxious statement di
rected at the Non-regs.
These guys who constantly try to
cause ill-feelings and further sepa
rate the student body are the real
“second rate Aggies.”

We, the civilians, have come to
this institution to get an education.
The fact that we have no desire for
a career in the service is no reason
why we should not be allowed the
privilege of making use of this
school’s facilities.
This institution is growing as a
result of a recent change in its
setup, but a few “die hards” still
wish to, reserve the school’s facili
ties selfishly, for those desiring
a career in the service. This sel
fishness has caused a few egotisti
cal Corps members to take the
immature stand that ROTC makes
a man superior to the civilians.
This type of childish reasoning, in
my opinion, casts a bad reflection
on the outfit of which this superior
is a member. If such boasts are
from a “first class” Aggie, I prefer
to remain in the “scroungy” second
class with common people.
