Churches Announce Activities
An auction sale, sponsored by the
high school league, and two mis
sionaries, one from India and the
other, Cuba, will be the highlights
of weekend activities for local
churches.
A&M Presbyterian Church
Rev. Norman Anderson, pastor,
Will have “A Steady Christian in a
Confused World” as his sermon
topic for the 8:45 a.m. service Sun
day. Church School will meet at
9:45. The High School League of
the church will hold an auction sale
in the patio of the Education Build
ing at 6:30 tonight.
First Baptist Church
Brother Tom Law, a former Bry-
anite who is a missionary to Cuba,
will occupy the pulpit Sunday at
11 a.m. worship services in the ab
sence of the Rev. Robert D. Long
shore. Rev. Longshore is on a
preaching tour of Alaska. Train
ing Union will be held at 7 p.m.
Ran Condra, who is secretary of the
Baptist State Brotherhood, will be
in charge of the evening service at

This week’s guest editor, Miriem Lee Watkins, has prepared
a Patio Supper Menu for the readers. Mrs. Watkins, whose
husband is Professor in charge of Sheep and Goat Division of
the Department of Animal Husbandry, names paintings, sewing,
reading and cooking as her favorite pastime. They have two
children.
MENU
Chilled Shrimp-Potato Soup Bite-sized saltines
Chicken ’N Ham Kebobs Tossed Green Salad
Garlic poppyseed rolls Pickles and Olives
Apricot Bavarian Pie Iced coffee or tea
CHILLED SHRIMP-POTATO SOUP
A cold soup to be served on crushed ice with crimp, bite-sized
saltines, while the Ham ’N Chicken Kebobs are completed over the
pharcoal.
2 cups milk (or half-and-half)
2 T instant potato
^4 medium white onion
small green pepper
1 stalk celery heart
% t. salt
% t. savory salt
r A t. white pepper
% t. Spice Islands Beaumonde
powder
% of 5-oz. can shrimp
Blend all above ingredients except shrimp and Beaumonde powder
and bring to scalding temperature, being very careful not to scorch.
(The white onions, green pepper and celery should be chopped very
fine.) Stir in Beaumonde powder and add shrimp. Cool, and chill
thoroughly for about 24 hours.
HAM AND CHICKEN KEBOBS
1—3 lb. frying chicken 1 can pineapple tidbits
1% lb. lean ham 4 metal skewers
Cut meat from bones of chicken breast, thighs and drumsticks,
slicing each piece to approximately one-inch cubes. Cube ham. Al
ternate pineapple, chicken and ham on skewers. Dip in Special Bar
becue Sauce. Wrap in aluminum foil. Cook one half hour over char
coal coals (or bake 45 minutes in 325 degree oven). Unwrap, placing
directly over coals. Baste with Barbecue sauce until thoroughly tender
and brown.
SPECIAL BARBECUE SAUCE
3 T ham fat drippings 1 t. Worcestershire
% cup pineapple juice % t. onion salt
1 T cider vinegar 2 T. brown sugar
2 T ketchup (or bottled % t.'salt
barbecue sauce)
Trim ham fat from ham and render drippings. Take 3 tablespoons
of the fat, and add juice from pineapple, vinegar, salt, ketchup or bar
becue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion salt and brown sugar. Bring
to rolling boil for one minute.

A visiting missionary from India,
Rev. Roberts, will conduct the 11
a.m. worship service Sunday and
the 7:30 evening service. Church
School will begin at 9:45 a.m. and
Christ Ambassadors will be held at
6:30 p.m.
Church of the Nazarene
The Rev. James Farris will con
duct the 11 a.m. worship services
Sunday following Church School at
10 a.m. Nazai*ene Young People’s
Society will meet at 7:15 p.m. pre
ceding the 8 p.m. evangelistic serv
ice.
Church of Jesiis Christ of
Latter Day Saints
Services will be held at 10 a.m.
Sunday in the YMCA Chapel.
Faith Evangelical and
Reformed Church
Sunday School will begin at 9:15
a.m. followed by worship services
at 10:30. Evening seiwice will be
gin at 7:30.
St. Mary’s Catholic Chapel
Mass is said every weekday at
6 a.m. Confessions are heard from
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and
preceding Sunday mass which is
said at 7 and 9 a.m.
Christian Science Society
Church School will begin at 9:30
a.m. Sunday preceding worship
services at 11. Reading room will
be open from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Mon
day and mid-week services will be
held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Bethel Lutheran Church
(Missouri Synod)
Rev. Paul Schroeder will conduct
the 10:45 a.m. worship services
Sunday in the absence of the Rev.
William C. Peterson, pastor, who is
attending a conference in St. Paul,
Minn. Sunday School will begin
at 9:30. There will be no Wednes
day vespers during the pastor’s
absence.
St. Thomas Episcopal Chapel
Holy Communion will be held at
8 a.m. Sunday followed by worship
services and Church School which
are both held at 9:30. Ice tea will
be served in the parish hall fol
lowing the 9:30 services.
Wesley Foundation
Vesper’s will be held from 7 to
7:15 tonight in the sanctuary of
the A&M Methodist Church. Dr.
Bob Shrode will instruct the Aggies
Sunday School class at 9:45 a.m.
Wednesday worship services will be
held at 7 p.m. in the Foundation.
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church
Dean A. C. Streng, of Texas
Lutheran College in Seguin, will
conduct the 10:45 a.m. services
Sunday following Church School
at 9:30. Young Marrieds will meet
at 5:30 p.m. Sunday for an ice
cream supper at the Lutheran Cen
ter. The Council meeting will be
held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Sched
uled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11
is the congregational picnic. The
church wants to extend an invita
tion to all Lutheran Aggies and
Bryan Air Force Base personnel
and their families.

“Life’s Way” is the sermon topic
of Dr. W. C. Jones for the 11 a.m.
worship seiwices Sunday. Church
School will be held at 9:45 a.m.
following coffee time at 9:30.
Board of Officers will meet at 8:30

“An Adventure in Freedom” is
the sermon topic chosen by Mont
Whitson, minister, for the 10:45
a.m. worship services Sunday. Sun

Young People’s Class will meet at
6:15 p.m. At the 7:15 p.m. service
the minister will continue his
studies from the Book of James,
with the title “Faith and Woi’ks.”
Mid-week services will be held at
7:15 p.m. Wednesday and Ladies
Bible Class will meet at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday at the church building.
