Churches Schedule Services
A new minister and an assistant
minister are in the pulpit of two
local churches this Sunday conduct
ing the services. Another local
church will hold a joint church
service with the congregation of a
Kurten church in the schedule of
Sunday activities.
Church of the Nazarene
The Rev. James Farris, formerly
of La Marque Church of the Naza
rene, will take over the pulpit Sun
day in 11 a.m. worship seiwices.
Church School will begin at 10 a.m.
The Nazarene Young People’s So
ciety will meet at 7:15 p.m. fol
lowed by Evangelistic Services at
8. Wednesday vespers will begin
at 7:30 p.m.
St. Thomas Episcopal Church
Roger Cilley, a recent graduate
of the Episcopal Theological Semi
nary of the Southwest in Austin,
has come to the Chapel as Assist
ant Minister and will preach his
first sermon at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
He will be ordained a Deacon in
the Episcopal Church on July 6.
Holy Communion will be observed
at 8 and 9:30 a.m. while Church
School will meet at 9:30 a.m. Ice
tea will be served in the Parish
Hall following the 9:30 a.m. service.
Faith Evangelical and
Reformed Church
There will be no church service
or’ School Sunday at the church.
Instead, the congregation will join
in a united worship service with
Zion Evangelical and Reformed
Church in Kurten, on the Kurten
school grounds at 10:30 a.m. Aft-
erwards, the two congregations will
join in a picnic dinner with recrea
tion for men, women and children
in the afternoon.
Christian Science Society
Sunday School will begin at 9:30
a.m. followed by worship services
at 11. The reading room is open
from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Monday. Wed
nesday evening services will be held
at 8.

Construction contracts totaling
$1,151,781.59 were awarded by the
Board of Directors of the A&M
System at their meeting Saturday
morning.
More than half of the total con
struction will be on the campus at
A&M, the rest spread over the Sys
tem.
Revenue bond; issues, , pf which
$500,000 is for use at College Sta
tion, totalled $920,000. .The $520,-.
000 at A&M \vill be used for the
Power Plant; $.420,000 went for :
use at Arlington State College at
Arlington.
One construction contract was
increased by $9,270, two totalling
$49,902 were confirmed and the
Chancellor was authorized t o
award a contract for $63,541, pend
ing the signing of an agreement.
Contracts awarded for work at
A&M included one to W. E.
]£utzschbach Company, Bryan, for
construction of underground elec
tric lines and an east-side substa
tion on a bid of $158,876; to Meyer
Blanke Company, St. Louis, Mo.
for major items of equipment at
the creamery, $40,252.59; to Henry
Vogt Co., Louisville, Ky., for steam
generator at the power plant,
$175,488; to DeLaval Steam Tur
bine Co., Trenton, N. J. for 5,000-
kilo watt generator, $292,760; Con
denser Service and Engineering
Co., Hoboken, N. J., for 6,750
square foot condenser, $53,715.

board meeting to Wood-Leppaid
Air Conditioning Co., Houston, for
air-conditioning the basement of
the college administration building,
a lecture room at Nagle Hall and
alternations at the Memorial Stu
dent Center, $29,310, was confirm
ed.
The Chancellor was authorized,
upon completion of a pending
agreement with the United States
Department of Agriculture, to
award a contract for air-condition
ing two floors of the USDA build
ing to Way Engineering Co., of
Houston, on a bid of $63,541.
Kutschback of Bryan was award
ed a contract for constructing a
steam tunnel extension at Prairie
View on a bid of $15,545; Childs
Construction Co., Fort Worth, con
tract for building a new women’s
dormitory at Arlington, $404,250;
Haws and Garrett, Fort Worth,
new accoustical ceiling for the
auditorium at Tarleton State Col
lege, $10,895. Contract awarded
Owens and Burkett Co., Houston,
for repairs at Prairie View, $20,-
592, was confirmed and a contract
of Owens and Burkett for repairs
to Woodruff Hall at Prairie View
was increased by $9,270.
Appropriations by the board at
Satux-days’ meeting totalled $1,-
296,070.31. This includes construc
tion for which contxacts were
awarded, not covered by previous
appropi'iations, and including $300,-
000 for maintenance, repairs and
altei'ation of existing buildings at

Southwest Co., Dallas; Rauscher,
Pierce and Co. Inc., Dallas; and
M. E. Allison and Co., San An
tonio. Their weighted average an

Contx-acts for printing the bonds
went to the Steck Co., Austin, on
a bid of $184 for the A&M bonds;
Ax-lington bond printing went to
the Helms Printing Co. Inc., Dal
