The 3 p.m. game will be broad cast over WTAW. Sportscaster Ken George will bring a play-by- play description of both games. Sophomore Toby Newton will probably get the starting nod from Coach Beau Bell today, with junior righthander Dick Munday taking the hill tomorrow. Newton, a lefty, shutout the Mustangs in the con ference opener at College Station, 1-0, on a dazzling three-hitter. Shaw was a victim of the opening day loss to the Aggies, although pitching a two-hitter. The Aggies have now beaten the Mustangs four straight times over the past two seasons by a single run. Southern Methodist is currently tied with Baylor for second place in conference standings. Both have 5-3 records. Last week the Ponies lost to Baylor, 1-5, while A&M split a two-game seines with Texas at Austin. A&M is fourth in the SWC. The Aggies won the league crown on this same Armstrong Field last year in one of the great rallies of conference his tory. Trailing 1-3 through eight innings, the Cadets pushed across two I'uns in the top of the ninth and one in the 11th to win the game and the title. Among the heroes of last year’s game at Dallas were pitchers Tex Van- zura and Dick Munday and out fielder John Stockton. Munday CHS, Cardinals Tangle at 4 p.m. On Tiger Field Deep in the clutches of a four- game losing streak, A&M Consoli dated’s baseball Tigers put their hopes on their frosh battery here today as they entei-tain the Co lumbus Cardinals at 4 p.m. on Tiger field. Freshman Edgar Feldman will open on the mound for the Tigers and will be throwing to frosh Pete Rodriguez behind the plate. Rod riguez, regular right fielder, has replaced Steadman Davis who has a ruptured blood vessel in his arm. The Cardinals mauled Consoli dated in their first-round district game, 10-4. The remainder of the Tigers starting nine are Alton Arnold at first base; David McNeely at the second sack; George Carroll on the hot corner and Bill Kavanaugh at shortstop. Bill Hite, Mike McGuire and Bob by Potts will patrol the outfield. Golfers Lose to UH; Host Rice Saturday A&M’s second-place Southwest Conference golfers return to the league wars here Satm-day against Rice after splitting a double match with the UH Cougars Thursday. Houston downed the Aggie var sity, 4-2, but A&M’s Fish shutout the Kittens, 4-0. The Cougar’s number three man, Jimmy Hiskey, was medalist with a two-under par 68, defeating Dave Vandeiwoort, 6-5.
