Ag Nine Meets Bryan
In Wednesday Nite Tilt
A&M’s baseballers take time out
from the frantic Southwest Con
ference campaign tomorrow night
to meet the Bryan All-Stars at
Travis Park in Bryan.
Proceeds from the 8 p.m. game
will go to the Brazos County
Teen-Age Baseball leagues. Tick
ets are 50 cents for adults and 25
cents for students.
“The money we get from such
worthwhile attractions is the only
way we have of providing the teen
agers of Bryan with equipment and
facilities for their summer base
ball leagues,” said R. B. Hicker-
son, who’s in charge of ticket sales
for the game.
The Cadets, now third in SWC
action with a 1-2 record, will
find the Bryan All-Star lineup
loaded with former A&M and
professional diamond stars.
Among those taking the field for
Bryan will be pitcher Pat Hubert,
outfielder John DeWitt and
catcher A1 Ogletree.
Hubert gained all-American hon
ors for the 1951 Aggie nine that
shared the conference crown with
Texas, while DeWitt and Ogletree
both gained all-conference laurels
dux-ing their careers at A&M. All
thi’ee have also pexTormed in pro
cii'des.
Other former Aggie players
are Don Ellis, Don Wesch and
Sam Kiker. Top professionals
on the All-Star’s roster include
pitchers Buddy Closs and Mike
Geiger Paces Aggies
In Bowling Tourney
With a grand total of 1,646 pins,
John Geiger paced the Aggie
bowlers in the first of the
mammoth three - weekend State
Bowling Tournament in Wichita
Falls.
Geiger rolled a high game of 222,
high fol- the 10-man Aggie group.
A&M has two teams entered in the
tourney, both in Class B. John
Redden, A1 McClellan, Marvin But
ler, Clay McFarland and Geiger
compose one team with Floyd
Hardiman, Martin Putsch, Ken
Savage, Fred McDonald and Joe
Bleiden on the second team.
The College Station team, spon
sored by the Park Cleaners, rolled
six pins less than the MSC- spon-
sox-ed second team, who’s total
score was 2,475.
McFarland took second high for
the Aggies in the singles matches,
rolling 571 with 1,633 for the nine
lines. McDonald was thix-d among
the A&M 10-pin men with 513 and
a 1,615 total.

B-Engineers 2-1
Squadi’on 11 launched its uppei - -
classman volleyball schedule yes
terday taking a 2-1 victoxy from
B-Engineei's. Tony Bolner and Ray
Laird sparked the Sqd. 11 team
backed by Jimmy Carter Jerry
Pitts, Paul Burnside, and Don
Dorsett.
Bobby Pipes and Jerry Pouson
led the B-Eng. drive. Bill Ci’olley,
Buddy Mux’dock, Tom Coker, and
George Frese completed the Engi
neer roster. Other volleyball vic
tories went to Sqd. 14, White Band,
Sqd. 18, and Mai’oon Band.
Buddy Lundgren and Don Butter
helped D-Infantx*y blank Sqd. 2 in
an uppei’classman handball match.
Other handball winners wex’e Sqd.
17 and A-Oi’dnance.
Robex-t Jewell fired 114 for the
day’s high in upperclassman rifle,
leading A-Composite over Sqd. 21,
533-440.
