Tornado
(Continued from Page 1)
With members of law-enforcement
agencies had traffic under control,
and clean-up work stalled.
“We expect to be on duty for at
least 24 hours, patroling the area
and guarding against looting,” said
Cox, a man who obviously knew
what he was doing.
Among the more lucky victims
were John B. Dougherty, Mrs. Cur
tis Cobb, and Shine Williams. All
three had taken refuge in a garage
belonging to Dougherty’s sister,
Lucille, at 1209 Bennett. The ga
rage was blown away, but they
weren’t.
“We got in when we saw the
rain, and all of a sudden no roof,”
said Dougherty.
“I was lying on the floor, and the
storm bounced me up and down a
few times,” said Mrs. Cobb, who
was looking at the bare foundation
of t her own garage, behind 1010
E. 31st.
Williams could not be found for
comment.

LET THIS ONE SINK IN. It’s titled:. Lucky-smoking golfer lining
up putt. He may miss the putt, but he’s not missing out on better
taste. Luckies give you better taste every time. That’s because
they’re made of fine tobacco—light, mild, naturally good-tasting
tobacco that’s TOASTED to taste better. So follow through—
join the swing to Luckies. Nothing beats better taste—and you’ll
say Luckies are the best-tasting cigarette you ever smoked!
