On Advisory Board

T. W. Leland, head and E. S.
Packenham of the Department of
Business Administration are mem
bers of the Advisory Board for the
ninth annual Accounting Confer
ence to be held April 16-17 at the
college. More than 300 are due
to attend.
Packenham is general chairman
for the conference. Dean of the
College Dr. John Paul Abbott will
give the welcome address.
Dr. Hays To Attend
Professors Meeting
Di\ John Q. Hays of the A&M
English Department will attend the
42nd annual meeting of the Amer
ican Association of University Pro
fessors, meeting in St. Louis, Mo.,
April 6-7. He is a member of the
Association’s executive council.
Representatives from more than
150 colleges and universities will
attend the meeting, which will be
hosted by Washington University
of St. Louis.

A two-day conference on the nat
ural gas industry, with more than
300 Texas and Southwest oil and
gas men expected to attend, will be
held April 9-10 at A&M. .
The conference is the ninth an
nual Oil Recovery Conference spon
sored by the Texas Petroleum Re
search Committee, a state agency
for oil and gas research jointly op
erated by the Railroad Commission,
the University of Texas and A&M.

B-AAA blasted B-Field Artillery
10 to 2 in an upperclassman soft-
ball encounter yesterday, with
Lambert Matl, Nick Onofrio and
Jack Offield scoring twice each.
Glendel Rand and Joe Smither-
man were the big guns for B-FA,
getting the team’s only scores. No
one else got past second base for
the field artillery team.
In freshman softball, A-QMC
walloped C-FA 15-7. Denny Up-
ham and Don Lewis each scored
three times for the quartermaster
nine. Raiford Williams, Ray Hart
and Walter Carlton scored twice
each.
In another freshman game B-FA
trounced A-Signal 9-0.
A home run highlighted unbeat
en Hart Hall’s 10-1 encounter with
Puryear,' and handing Puryear its
second dfefeat of the season.
Leggett Hall shut out Mitchell,
4-0, in another civilian game.
B-AAA defeated Sqd. 13 2-1 in a
freshman volleyball match and Sqd.
8 downed A-Ordnance 2-0. Sqd. 14
routed C-AAA 2-0 and Sqd. 11
blanked A-AAA 2-0 in other games.
Burchard Speaks
In ‘Aggie Effort’
Donald D. Burchard, head of the
Journalism Department, is making
two appearances today as a guest
speaker in Navasota. He spoke at
an assembly this morning at Nava
sota High School and will speak
tonight at the Navasota Kiwanis
Club.
The speeches are part of an all-
Aggie effort at Navasota which
features a crew from A&M editing
the Navasota newspaper.

The Battalion, daily newspaper of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of
Station, is published by students in the Office of Stude

of Texas is the Student Publications Board. Faculty members are Karl E. Elmquist,
Chairman; Donald D. Burchard, Tom Leland and Bennie Zinn. Student members
are Derrell H. Guiles, Paul Holladay, and Wayne Moore. Ex-officio members are
Charles Roeber, and Ross Strader. Secretary. The Battalion is published four times
a week during the regular school year and once a week during the summer and vacation
and examination periods. Days of publication are Tuesday through Friday for the
regular school year and on Thursday during the summer terms and during examination
and .vacation periods. The Battalion Is not published on the Wednesday immediately j
preceding Easter or Thanksgiving. » Subscription rates are $3.50 per semester, $6.00 ;
