Women's Social Club Holds Social Whirl
Church Briefs
Irish Program at 3 Friday
Tho Women’s Social Club will
carry out the theme “Let’s Go
Places” with an Irish program at
3 p. m. Friday in the Memorial
Student Center ballroom.
Mrs. Spencer Buchanan will show
color transparencies of great beau
ty and interest taken in Ireland,
according to Mrs. W. L. Russell,
reporter.
The Harmony Club, composed of
faculty ladies, some of whom have
sung with the group for ten years,
will present a selection of Irish
songs. Included in the repertoire
are “When Irish Eyes Are Smil
ing”, “Villia”, “The Kerry Dance”,
and “Music When Soft Voices
Die.” Mrs. Grace Krug is direc
tor and Mrs. C. W. Simmons, ac
companist.

partment are hostesses for the oc
casion with Mrs. Dale Leipper act-

Set Date June 2
The wedding of Margaret Ann
Ford to Larry B. Kennedy will be
solemnized on June 2 announced
the parents of the bride-to-he, Mr.
and Mrs. James Miller Ford of
Houston.
Kennedy, senior business admin
istration major, is cadet colonel of
the Corps. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Eddie Jones Kennedy of
Houston. Miss Ford and Kennedy
will be married in St. Paul’s Meth
odist Church in Houston.
Miss Ford, who is a sophomore
at Rice Institute, was graduated
from San Jacinto High School in
Houston. Kennedy is a Lamar
High School of Houston graduate.

Ball Duchess to represent the
Club and election of officers for
the coming year.
The Social Club is composed of
wives of the faculty of A&M.

Tour Packing Plant
Animal Husbandry 207 students
toured the Houston Meat Packing
Plant and the Port City Stock Yard
today on a field trip for the class.
After arriving at the packing
plant at 8 a.m., members of the
class observed practices used in
slaughtering and saw the animals
butchered into wholesale cuts.
During the afternoon stock yard
tour, students saw procedures used
in handling and selling livestock.
The class returned to A&M after
completion of the tour.
Dr. O. D. Butler is professor of
the class.

St. Thomas Episcopal Chapel
The Rev. Hans Frei, professor of
Theology at the Episcopal Theolog
ical Seminary of the Southwest in
Austin, will be guest speaker at the
special mid-week Lenten service
tonight at 7:15. Prior to his com
ing to Austin, the Rev. Mr. Frei
was on the faculty of Yale Divinity
School in New Haven, Conn. Pro
ceeding the service will be a cover
ed dish supper held in the Parish
Hall at 6:15. The supper is for
members of the congregation,
friends, and Episcopal students.

Mid-week services will be held
tonight at 7:15. Ladies Bible Class
will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in
the church building.
Bruckcrts Speak
At Hillel Tonight
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bruckert
will be guest speakei’s tonight at
the Hillel Foundation at 7:15 in
the YMCA, where they will speak
on “Two Years in Modern Israel”.
Bruckert, who is an associate
professor in the Industrial Engi
neering Department, recently re
turned from Israel with his wife.
He had spent two years on the
Point Four program.
The couple will speak on the
everyday life of the people of Is
rael. The meeting is open to the
public.
A social hour will follow the
meeting.
