Military Day

Sunday, the Singing Cadets will
offer their talents at 2:30 p.m. in
Guion Hall. Charley Jenkins, ten
or; Rocky Arnold, baritone; James
Bond, tenor; Edward Burkhead,
tenor; and John Brannen, bass; will
be featured as soloists.
The Singing Cadets, under the
direction of Bill Turner, will offer
an entire section of popular songs
from Broadway productions. The
program, which is open to the pub
lic at no charge, will also include
sacred selections.
CHS Students
Assist Farmers
Vocational agriculture students
from Consolidated High School
Future Farmers Chapter partici
pated in a program to improve
livestock in the community last
weekend.
Three CHS boys, Bobby John
son, Keith Kiddell and Bruce Da-
vey vaccinated, branded, castrated,
wormed and sprayed some 67 head
of cattle for a local farmer last
Saturday.
The boys carry on activities of
this kind to assist farmers or
ranchmen that are in need of help
and to gain valuable experience in
the field of agriculture.
The work was done under the
supervision of A. J. Jumper, vo
cational agriculture teacher as
CHS, and the boys were assisted
by A&M students.

Attend Conference
Three members of the A&M
English Department will be on the
program of the Texas Conference
of College Teachers of English at
the 21st annual meeting at the
University of Texas today and
Saturday.
John Q. Hays, president of the
Conference, will preside at the bus
iness meeting and serve as toast
master at the luncheon Saturday.
Sidney S. Cox will deliver a paper
on “Teaching Remedial Writing.”
George S. Summey, Jr., professor
emeritus, will be a guest of honor
of the association at the luncheon.
