Senate With ‘Guts * Despite what some persons might think, one of the most pleasant feelings in the world is to be proved wrong. That is, if in being proved wrong, what one considers “right” is done. And the A&M Student Senate proved last night that it has what it takes to prove us wrong. The Senate, through a majority vote, acted last night on what is probably the most controversial social question of our times: segregation and desegregation. The Senate went on record as “opposing segregation,” an expression of majority opinion, which was recorded follow ing a long and lengthy debate with most of the senators present participating. Every attempt was made to get a sincere vote; both sides battled hard—but the side upon which The Battalion feels it must stand was in the majority. Nothing, of course, will be immediately changed by this opinion. But the committee now studying the problems of integration at A&M will have an opinion from the student senators of A&M. TU’ NkiSWEE.
