Carrying the Maroon and White ate Tom Bonorden, Bobby Gross and Herman Johnson in the weights; Bobby Carter, Fritzie Connally .and Joe Schiraldi in the high jump; James Clark, James Jackson and Winton Thomas in the pole vault; Dale Elmore in the broad jump; and Oran Helvey in the javelin. Aggie Baseballers Clip Sam Houston Here 4-1 By Ronnie Greathouse Battalion Sports Editor Little Doug Mullins hurled four and two-thirds innings of no-hit relief yesterday as unbeaten A&M downed the stub born Sam Houston State Bearkats, 4-1, on Kyle Field. Mullins, 5-8 righthander, came onto the scene in the top of the fifth inning with the Aggies holding a slim 2-1 lead, the bases loaded and only one out. He retired the side on four pitches and went on to face but 15 batters in taking credit for his first win of the season. The Bearkats jumped on starter Dick Monday for a run in the top of the first frame as second base- man Gabe Urbina led off with a double that hugged the left field foul line. Urbina went to second on an error and scored on team mate Bob Kennemer’s single. A&M knotted the score in their half of the initial inning. After two outs, right fielder Phil New port singled sharply to left and raced home all the way from first on an error.
