Hi School Seniors
Coming Saturday
More than 1,200 high school sen
iors from Texas and neighboring
states are expected to converge on
the campus Saturday for the an
nual A&M High School Day.
Purpose of the annual affair is
to give outstanding high school
seniors a preview of the life and
academic attractions to be found
on the A&M campus.
Registration for early arrivals
will begin tomorrow in the hous
ing office and will officially start
Saturday morning at 8 in Guion
Hall.
After registration in the lobby
of Guion at 8, there will be a short
orientation period during which
time a 30 minute color-film movie
depicting life at A&M will be
shown.
From there, the students will be
taken on guided tours of the cam
pus and departments pertaining to
their particular interest. The
groups will form in front of Guion
thus enabling the students to
choose the group touring the sub
ject to his liking.
At noon, lunch will be served in
the dining halls with students act
ing as hosts.
An afternoon of sports begins
at 1 with a golf match between
A&M and Lamar Tech on the A&M
golf course. A&M was second in
SWC golf last year.
A preview of A&M’s track team
will be offered at 1:30 when A&M
hosts the University of Texas and
the University of Houston in a
triangular meet. This also is ex
pected to be a highly contested
meet since Texas nosed out A&M
last year for track championship
of the conference. Freshman teams
of the three schools also will com
pete.
A&M’s tennis team goes into
action against the University of
Houston at 2. The teams will meet
on the clay courts west of the
Student Center.
The Aggie baseball team, last
year’s Southwest Conference
champions, opens its home season
in Kyle Field at 3 p.m. against the
