Infantry Students Study Machine Gun
News Briefs
Advanced infantry students here
were recently given an indoctrina
tion course in the firing of the .30
caliber Browning machine gun.
The firing, supervised by Maj.
Thomas A. George, senior infantry
instructor, was done on a 1000-inch
rang-e. A sub-caliber device was
attached to the machine guns and
made it possible to fire .22 caliber
ammunition instead of the normal
.30 caliber ammunition.
The students also learned about
trigger manipulation for slow and
fast fire and principles of gunnery
elevation and traversing.

here March 4-9. More than 600
persons are expected to attend.
