Walton Conducting
Graduate Course
A graduate course in Guidance
and Counseling at Rosenberg, Tex
as, taught by E. V. Walton, head
of the Agricultural Education De
partment, is attracting teachers
from a wide area.
Designed primarily for teachers
of vocational agriculture, the
course meets weekly for a period
of twelve weeks. Twenty-one
teachers are em’olled including
high school principals, science
teachers, elementary school teach
ers and vocational agriculture
teachers from nine counties.
Purpose of the course is to assist
teachers to set up individual coun
seling programs within their
classes as well as to train them in
organizing guidance and counseling
•programs for an entire higli school.
In commenting on the course,
Walton remarked, “I have been
around A&M so long, it is still a
bit difficult to become accustomed
to having women enrolled in
classes, but they contribute a lot
to the discussion.”
Baptist Union
Sells 6 01d Sarge’
The Baptist Student Union Coun
cil, in a meeting last week, voted
to purchase a 1956 Chevrolet sta
tion wagon to replace the one they
now have.
“Sarge,” the name given the 1953
Chevrolet station wagon the BSU
now has, will be traded in on the
new vehicle. The Council plans
to pay for the new station wagon
through pledges from its members.
The car is used to transport stu
dents to local and state BSU ac
tivities, accoi’ding to Cliff Harris,
BSU director.

AGGIE WIVES BRIDGE Club
will meet tonight at 7:30 in the
Memorial Student Center. Host
esses will be Lilian Powers and
Sylvia Teague, regulars; Janie
Perkins and Yvonne Lawis, inter
mediates and Sandra Aim and
Yvonne Sheppard, beginners.

the Animal Industry Libi*ary in
stead of the YMCA due to Relig
ious Emphasis Week.
A&M SOCIAL CLUB will hold
their February meeting, at noon to
morrow in the Memorial Student
Center with a style show-luncheon.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Wives Club will hold a square
dance Saturday night from 8 to 10
in the YMCA with Manning Smith
calling for the group. The faculty
and their families have been in
vited to the occasion. A fee of 25
cents for soft drinks is the only
charge.

hold a cake bake from 9 to 12 a.m.
Saturday at Safeway.

YMCA for the election of new
council officers.
