A-Composite In ’Murals
By JOE DAN BOYD
Intramural Writer
Squadron 20 ground out its first
win of the upperclassman football
season, toppling previously unde
feated A-Composite by three pene
trations yesterday. Both teams
amassed considerable yardage in
the evenly-rpatched skirmish, each
scoring two touchdowns and one
extra point.
Ronnie Moates, Bob Montgom
ery, and Marvin Kolinek did most
of the damage for A-Composite.
Other outstanding Composite grid-
ders were Fred Standard, Melvin
Free, Jim Adams, Robert Jackson,
Roland Beasley, Jack Yardley, Gor
don Graham, and Lee Richards.
Jim Stephens, Bob Skinner, and
Ed Dusebout looked good for the
winners. Charles Winkler, Don
Thompson, Jack Wallace, Harold
Coppedge, and Norman Crocker
also played good ball for Sqd. 20.
Bob Kidd and Larx-y Southwox-th
were outstanding for Sqd. 17 in
their 41-0 routing of B-Engineers.

With three games left on the
docket, the Aggies are riding the
fourth rung of the Southwest Con-

Even thi’ee losses wouldn’t drop
the Cadets into the basement. TCU
owns a meagi’e 1-9 league record
and by winning both of their re
maining games could pull into a
sixth-place tie.
A&M downed the Frogs in the
first conference meeting, 84-74, for
their first win over the Fort Worth
school in more than two years, af
ter absorbing a 67-59 beating by
the Frogs in the pre-conference
toui’nament in Houston.
TCU’s only bright spot is their
one-man team, 6-7 center Dick
O’Neal, who seems destined for all-
SWC honox-s again this year.
O’Neal, who has garnered 51 points
in the two games with A&M, leads
the conference scorers with 245
points and on the season with 529.
After three straight SWC losses,
the Aggies will counter O’Neal

Returning varsity giddders dom
inated the first thx - ee teams yester
day as Coach Paul Bryant and his
assistants put their charges
thi’ough the second day of Spring
practice.
“THE MOST PLEASING thing
about these first two practices has
been the attitude of our varsity
players, or next year’s juniors and
seniors,” said Coach Bryant. “The
majority of them seem to want to
be a leader. That’s Something
that I like to see, and something
that is important to the success of
any team.”
No fi’eshmen appeared on the
No. 1 unit during yesterday’s woi'k-
out. Five Fish were listed among
the second unit membex-s.
“Our big problem right now is
teaching the fi’eshmen how to block
and tackle,” Bryant said. “They
lack the toughness and quickness
of the varsity playei’s. In fact
they’re so far behind our varsity
that I’ve thought of setting up sep
arate dxills for them.”
THE “A” TEAM IN yesterday’s
woi’kout was made up of ends Gene
Stallings, Bobby Marks, Bobby
Di’ake Keith, and Dean Meeks;
tackles Chaxiie Krueger and Jack
Powell; guards Jim Stanley, Den
