Page 4 THE BATTALION Tuesday, February 21, 195$ Letters to the Editor (Continued from Page 2) situation, that segregation is the pi'oduct of prejudice, injustice, big otry and intolerance. With ade quate dual school systems, both races can progress efficiently. There has not been a race through out known histoi*y that has made progress equal to that of the South ern Negro over the past few dec ades. The South does not intend on the progress to be interrupted. Get Your ... LEE RIDERS Now Be prepared for the Aggie Rodeo — Six month money back guarantee on shrinkage and zipper breakage. This is the basis for the South’s continuance of the Dual System. There are several more reasons which I do not intend to go into because of the length. Because penicillin is good for one infection doesn’t necessarily mean that it cures all infections. Because in tegration works in the North does not mean it will work in the South —there is a difference in problems. The difference is the population of the two races and the dangerous effects of people who seek to solve problems they don’t understand. Laugh at these ideas if you wish, but they, or something similar, are needed and could be helpful. Re peated exposition of the violence accomplishes nothing of true qual ity; it only serves to separate. It is the persons who are in the posi tions to bring to the people not one sided stories of violence, but what’s behind the violence and how is can best be solved. Ch. E. Wives Need Books, Magazines “Books and magazines are still being collected for the colored schools of College Station and Bry an,” according to Pat Neely, pub licity chairman of Chemical Engi neering Wives Club, sponsors of the drive.” Educational books and magazines such as Reader’s Digest, Time, Newsweek are needed for all grades. There is particularly a need for children’s books for the first three elementally grades, ac cording to Mrs. Neely. “The colored schools haven’t had any money allotted to the library for three years so the need for books is very great,” she went on to say. Persons who wish to donate any books or magazines may phone VI 6-4866, or VI 6-6257 and club members will pick up the books. LOU’S Ray R.
