Battalion Woman’s Editor
With the Christmas season well under way, parties and open
house affairs will head the schedule in many College Station homes.
We like to be fancy with our food selections as well as economical
and simple preparation. Here are a few suggestions for your holi
day season.
PUNCH FOR 50 PEOPLE
CS Churches Prepare For Christmas
1 V<l cups water
2% cups sugar
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup strong tea
2 cups fruit syrup
2 cups white grape juice,
grapefruit juice or pineapple
juice
1 cup maraschino cherries with
juice
1 cup charged water
Make a syrup by boiling for 10 minutes sugar and the plain in
gredients (except the charged water) and permit to stand for 30 min
utes or more. The fruit syrup is the hitch. Strawberry jam may be
diluted and strained, canned raspberry or loganberry juice may be
sweetened and boiled until heavy. Strain these ingredients. Add ice
water to make about 2 gallons of liquid or add ice water to make 114
gallons of liquid and add at the last minute the charged water. If you
find the punch lacking in sugar, add part or all of the reserved sugar
syrup.
DECORATIVE ICE CUBES
For an iced drink specialty, make the easy-to-prepare decorative
ice cubes .... wonderful for conversation pieces.
Maraschino cherry Pi'ig of mint.
Preserved strawberries Piece of lemon or pineapple
Fill a refrigerator tray with water. Place in each section one of
the above fruit. (You may flavor the cubes with 1 teaspoon rum,
