Both A&M and Arkansas
will have something to “Crow”
about Saturday. John Crow
returns to the Aggie line-up
for the first time in two
weeks, and ex-Razorbacks get a
chance to whoop-it-up at their an
nual Homecoming jubilee.
Crow, the No. 2 ball carrier
among A&M’s fleet-flock of backs,
is expected to start against Ar
kansas. He has chewed up 217
yards in 35 carries, and owns a
6.2 yards per try average.
The Aggies worked on offensive
plays, punts and defense yesterday,
but had no contact work. Coach
Paul Bryant said there would be
no contact work this week.
Halfback Kenneth Hall and end
Gene Stallings have been ill with a
virus infection this week. Hall
will probably miss the Arkansas

“We’ve won two conference
games now, and you see all this
stuff in the papers about the fine
job Bryant’s doing. I’ve done prac
tically no coaching at all,” states
Bryant; “our staff has done the
work.”
“A staff is just as good as the
boys on the team, and any head
coach is just as good as his staff.
We’ve got both, and that’s why
we’ve been winning. I contribute
less than anybody.”
“Jack Mitchell (Arkansas) will
have his team just as ready as
ours, and if we beat them it’ll be
because of the boys wanting to.
I don’t think the nine teams that
beat us last year outcoached us,
and I’m sure of the reverse this
year.”
The Cadets haven’t beaten the
rangy Razorbacks in Fayetteville
since 1945, and trail the Porkers in
their 28 game series dating back
to 1903. Arkansas, with a 14-12-2
record against the Ags, is the only
team besides Texas to hold a bet
ter than even slate over A&M.
