OFFICIAL NOTICES
The Student Publications Board, August
2, 1955, ruled that all campus organiza
tions which have dues, charge admissions
or have an appropriate other' source of
income will be charged for space in fu
ture Aggieland yearbooks. The new rul
ing specifically affects R.O.T.C. units,
civilian dorms and interccdlegiate sports
in that those organizations will be charg
ed for space beginning in the 1956 Aggie
land. On the same date, from $55 to $50
per page and from $35 to $30 per half
page. The action was taken to broaden
the basis of charging for purposes of con
sistency and equality. The net additional
income expected will be used to offset
higher printing costs and the loss of the
Football Program concession from the
Student Publications Program.

The following recipes are a continuation of those
given last week by Mrs. John S. McCannon. Lack of
space in last week’s paper necessitated saving some of
her recipes for today’s issue.
HAM, POTATO, CARROT AND ONION CASSEROLE
Ham has always been a favorite around our house. I like it
because you can do so very much with it. The following recipe was
given me by my mother.

THE BATTALION
Page 3
6 T. ham drippings, oleo or
butter
6 T. enriched flour
3 cups milk
2 t. salt
% cup buttered bread crumbs
14 t. pepper
Vz lb. cheddar cheese, grated
1 lb. cooked ham, diced
4 cups cubed cooked potatoes
12 small cooked onions
2 cups cubed cooked carrots
Melt the drippings or fat. Blend in flour and add the milk, stir
ring constantly. Cook mixture until thick, boiling about three minutes.
Add seasonings and grated cheese and cook slowly until cheese dissolves.
Add cooked ham, potatoes, celery and onions.
Pour the ham and vegetable mixture into a greased casserole.
Cover the mixture with buttered bread crumbs and bake, uncovered,
in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 or 40 minutes or until the
crumbs are lightly browned. Serves 8 to 10.
APPLE OR PEAR CRISP
I have never tried this dish with pears, but we like the apple
crisp so well that I had to include the complete recipe.
8 fresh pears or apples % cup bread flour
X A cup water, if pears are hard 1 cup light brown sugar
1 t. lemon juice (omit if using 1/3 cup butter
tart apples instead of pears) }4 t. salt
Place sliced pears or apples, unpeeled if you wish, in a buttered
baking dish and sprinkle them with lemon juice and water. If you
are using apples, pile them high, as they tend to settle. Blend flour,
butter and salt until the mixure resembles cornmeal in texture. Spink-
le this lightly over pears or apples. Bake them in a slow oven for
about 45 minutes until the fruit is tender and the crust is brown.
