Swimmers
At Tyler Meet
Eleven College Station
swimmers will enter the Tex
as Amateur Athletic Federa
tion Swimming Championship
meet this weekend at Tyler.
The meet will be held Saturday and
Sunday.
Gail Schlesselman, state breast
stroke champion this year, will
swim the junior girls’ 50-meter but
terfly breaststroke and the individ
ual medley. She will also be on
the girls’ freestyle relay and the
girls’ medley relay teams.
Mary Varvel, Patsy Wilkins and
Judy Litton will also swim on the
freestyle relay team. The medley
relay will be composed of breast-
stroker Gail Schlesselman, back-
stroker Mary Frances Badgett and
freestyler Judy Litton.
Patsy Wilkins will enter the in
dividual medley and the 50-meter
butterfly breaststroke. Mary
Frances Badgett will compete in
the 50-meter backstroke and the
individual medley.
Mary Varvel and Judy Litton will
enter both the 50- and 100-meter
freestyle races.
In the women’s division Martha
Shawn and Ann Schlesselman will
swim the 100-meter backstroke.
Martha will a-Iso compete in the in
dividual medley.
John Harrington will enter the
boys’ 100-meter backstroke and the
individual medley and will swim on
the medley relay team with Tom
Ivy and Richard Badgett. Har
rington, who is a junior at A&M
Consolidated High School, was se
lected for the All-American high
school swimming team this year.
Tom Ivy and Richard Badgett
will also enter the boys’ 100-meter
breaststroke, and Badgett will
swim the individual medley.
Don Draper, only entiy in the
men’s division, will swim in the
100- and 200-yard freestyle races.
The group will be accompanied
by Art Adamson, coach of the Col
lege Station swimming team.

Leggett Hall’s intramural soft-
ball teani won the championship
for the^iirst semester of the sum
mer session by defeating Law A’s
team 6 to 5 earlier this week.
The two teams had tied ■ at the
end of the regular schedule with
records of 5 wins and 1 defeat.
College View Village won the
volleyball championship, beating
out Leggett Hall.
W. K. Glazner won the intra
mural golf championship, beating;
Tom Reiman in the final round.
Next semester’s intramurals will
include softball, volleyball, golf and
doubles and singles in tennis. En
trants will have to enter individ
ually for golf and tennis next se
mester, said W. L. Penberthy, stu
dent activities head, who is direct
ing the summer intramural pro
gram.

care of enrollment at TWC.
The Regents said the same thing
is true of the main university’s
graduate school — the enrollment
problem is not as intense at the
graduate levels as at the under
graduate levels.
If suit were brought against the
university to force admission of an
undei-graduate Negro student to
the main university this fall, chair
man Sealy said, “I think we would
have to resist it with all means at
our command.”
