Both are next week. A&M meets SMU at Dallas next Monday and ends the season with Texas at Austin Tuesday. The Aggies pulled into a two-way tie for first place with SMU last Friday by downing TCU at Fort Worth, 7-6. The Aggies and Mus tangs both own 9-2 won-lost records in conference action. A&M leads in season standings with a 15-5 mark, while SMU ranks next with 12-7. Lefty Hardgrove is Bell’s choice in today’s opener with the Owls. Righthander Jerry Nelson takes the mound in the second game. Nelson’s booming double helped earn him a 7-6 decis ion over TCU and Dick O’Neal at Fort Worth last Friday. A four-run fourth inning rally proved to be the winning mar gin. The Longhorns are top-heavy favorites for the cinder title, but they beat the Aggies by only five points in a tri angular meet here with Rice last month. UT also is the favorite for the frosh track crown, but the Aggies and Baylor freshmen are expected to push them closely. The Shorthorns hold two meet vic tories over the Fish, but the Cubs and Rice’s Owlets could take away enough points to put the Aggies in contention. Texas is the heavy favorite to repeat in the individual tennis com petition, which starts Thursday morning. A&M golfer Bobby Briggs is one of the favoi’ites in the wide- open golf race, along with defend ing champ Floyd Addington of SMU, John Garrett of Rice, John Thornton of Baylor and Davis Love of Texas. Golf stai’ts Thursday and fin ishes Friday, after 72 holes medal play. USED BOOKS WANTED We want your used books — whether reused here or not — and are prepared to pay the best price available.
