EXERCISES
All civilian students who are candidates
for the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Med
icine will wear the doctor’s cap and gown.
Ph.D. Candidates are also required to order
hoods and leave them with the Registrar
no later than 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, May 17.
The Ph.D. hoods will not be worn in the
procession since all such candidates will be
hooded on the stage. Candidates for the
Master’s and Professional degrees will
wear the master’s cap and gown; those who
are candidates for the Bachelor’s degree,
except military students, will wear the
bachelor’s cap and gown. All military stu
dents who are candidates for degrees will
wear the appropriate uniform.
Rental of caps and gowns may be ar
ranged with the College Exchange Store.
Orders may be placed until April 30, but it
is desirable to place them as early as pos
sible. The rental is a follows: doctor’s
cap and gown $3.90; master’s cap and
gown 53.60; bachelor’s cap and gown 53.30.

Dance Group Plans
Program of Ballet
“Ballet Fantasy”, a program of
ballet, will be presented by Fran
ces Putnam of Houston, Saturday,
at 8 p.m. in the Stephen F. Austin
high school auditorium.
Mrs. Ruth Gordon McGill of
Bryan will be one of the principal
dancers in the program. Roland
Guerard, ballet master, will also
be in the program.
Guerard, teacher of the Bryan
branch of Frances Putnam studios,
did the choreography and design
ed costumes for the numbers. He
was one of the original members
of the Ballet Russe de Monte Car
lo front its inception in 1932 and
remained with that company as
premier danseur until 1943. In
1943 he served as the executive
secretary of the ballet division of
A&M Consolidated
Lists Honor Roll
The fifth six-week honor roll has
been announced by A&M Consoli
dated high school.
Twelfth grade students on the
honor roll are Bonnie Carroll, Eu

to Walter Davisy A&M’s outstand
ing high jumper of 1951-52.
“Ballet Fantasy” will open and
close with two short ballets. A
series of short dances, “Selections
in Divertissement”, will comprise
the middle portion of the program.
The opening number, “Ballet
Royal,” will feature Guerard and
Mrs. McGill as the royal prince
and princess. In place of the usual
preliminary music to the evening’s
performance, there will be a pro
cession of royalty, the king and
queen and the children and their
tutor, who will take their places
in the back of the stage and before
whom the ballet, a command per-
formance, will be given.
Theme of the production is the
courtiesies and symbols of royalty.
Music will consist of selections
from Handel’s “Water Music.”
Mrs. MbGill will also appear in one
of the short numbers in the middle
of the program, “Romance”, to the
music of a Chopin waltz.
Folk Dancing
OtheT dances in this portion of
the program will be a folk dance
and pas de trois of 'the mosaic of
the three graces. The program will
close with a short ballet based upon
Grimms’ household tale “Snow
White and Rose Red,” danced to
Hayden’s “Surprise Symphony.”
All music used on the program has
been recorded and supervised by
the Audio Corporation of Amer
ica.
Ballet admission charge is $1 for
adults and 50 cents for children,
students and men in uniform. Tick
ets will be sold at the door or may
be purchased in advance through
Mrs. Bennie Marie Lewis, 4-8033,
or Mrs. Mackin Jones, 3-3951.
The “Ballet Fantasy” is being
sponsored by the St. Andrew’s
Episcopal church of Bryan.

Picked All-State
Choir Members
Two members of the A&M
Baptist Student union have
been chosen to be members of
the All-State BSU choir which
will tour Texas and New Mex
ico this summer, Wes Forbes, choir
director announced.
Bob Burtis, freshman chemical
engineering major from Waco, and
Jim Brady, freshman aeronautical
engineering major from Austin, are
the two BSU’ers who will tour with 4.
the choir in sixteen cities. Choir
members were selected from the
colleges and universities of Texas.
Included in the tour will be three
days at Glorieta Baptist assembly
near Santa Fe, N.M. The trip will
be Aug. 16 through Sept. 4.
Burtis and Brady sang with the
100-voice choir for the first time
at the State BSU Spring Planning
conference held at Latham Springs,
April 22-24. They were then chos
en as members of the 60-voice trav
eling choir for the tour.
