Allen Hands Fish
Second Loss* 8-6 ■
Allen academy scored two runs
in the ninth inning to break a 6-6
tie and hand the Aggie Fish their
second straight loss of the sea
son, 8-6, Tuesday.
Righthander Carlos Montemayor
weathered a 10-hit assault to go
all the way for the Ramblers. He
struck out six and walked two.
The Fish spotted Allen a two
run lead in the first, but counted
one in the second, four in the third
and one in the sixth to lead 6-4
going into the eighth after Allen
scored two in the sixth.
In the eighth, Allen combined
four singles and a walk off re
liefer Cam Castleman to tie the
score. Castleman came in for star
ter Pinkey Cooner with two out
and the bases loaded in the sev-

Thirteen schools are expec
ted to enter the 19th annual
high school swimming tourna
ment in P. L. Downs jr. nat-
atorium Saturday.
Started by Aggie swimming
coach Art Adamson in 1937,
the tourney is sponsored by
the A&M athletic department.
; There is no admission charge.
Defending champion High
land Park (Dallas) will be on
hand and is expected to be
closely challenged by Lamar
, and Reagan (Houston).
Other teams expected are

quivel homered to lead off the sec
ond, and third baseman Gordon
Maxwell blasted a three run hom
er to center in the third. Ed Dud
ley’s triple and Bobby Conrad’s
double were the other Fish extra
base blows.
Allen got its winning runs on
three singles and an error. The
Fish got their four third inning
runs on Cooner’s single, a fielder’s
choice. Maxwell’s homer, two er
rors, Dudley’s single, and a steal
of home by James Smotherman on
the end of a double steal with
Dudley.

Rifle Club Sets
Second Meeting
Certificates of attendance will
be awarded to 26 Bryan and Col
lege Station boys at the second
membership meeting of the Twin
City Junior Rifle club at 7 p.m.

USAR armory. Winners of the
safety award and the school match
also will be announced, marking
the end of the first basic rifle
training school. They will be giv
en trophies presented by the Col
lege Station and Bryan Kiwanis
clubs.
