Mrs. Woodruff is completing her degree in education, by corres pondence, from Baylor. Mrs. Woodruff has' prepared one of the favorite meals of her household. Steak, squash, potatoes, divinity salad, hot bread, lemon pie and coffee make up the meal.) STEAK My husband usually cooks the meat on our little charcoal broiler. We get a generous cut of round steak which allows plenty for two. SQUASH We learned to enjoy squash cooked by my mother’s recipe. 6-8 medium squash, thinly sliced onion, diced 2 tablespoons fat 2 tablespoons sugar 1 cup water Salt and pepper Brown the onions in fat; slice squash into pan with onions. Cover with water, then add sugar. Cook until tender, then mash adding salt and pepper. Cover until ready to serve. BOILED POTATOES We like boiled new potatoes in melted butter seasoned with salt and pepper and sprinkled with par sley. DIVINITY SALAD Deaner’s favorite salad is an old Georgian recipe of divinity salad. 36 marshmallows 1 large can of chunk pineapple 1 cup of chopped nuts 2 egg yolks 2 tablespoons of sugar 2 tablespoons of vinegar % teaspoon of spit 1 pint of whipping cream Cube the marshmallows and add with the can of pineapple and cup mf nuts. Prepare dressing by beat ing the yolks of 2 eggs and mix ing with 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and % ^teaspoon of salt. Cook in double boiler until thick. Then cool and add one pint of whipped whipping- cream. Pour on salad and mix. I usually serve hot bread Avith this meal and serve coffee. LEMON PIE 1 tall can Carnation milk 1 cup sugar 1 package lemon jello Chill mixing bowl and chill milk. Pour jello and sugar into bowl, slowly adding milk while beating. , Turn rotator to a medium speed and beat until thick. Then pour into graham cracker crust and chill in the refrigerator. Miss Nancy Dawes To Give Concert The Memorial Student Center Recital series AA'ill present Miss Nancy Dawes in a piano concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the MSC. Miss Dawes, now a teacher in Che Dallas public school system, is a graduate of Texas State College for Women and the University of Michigan. * At TSCW, she won the Leman award for “outstanding artistic achievement.” She has appeared as guest soloist with the Kansas City Philharmonic orchestra, and has played programs in Texas, New Mexico and Michigan.
