Five Troups Named
For- Girl Scouts
The organization of five new
Girl Scout troops was announced
at the November meeting of the
College Station-Bryan area Execu
tive Board of Girl Scouts this week
at the Girl Scout Little house.
Two new troops have been or
ganized at Ben Milam school and
three new troops at St. Joseph’s
school. It is the first time that
there have been Girl Scout troops
in these schools.
Mrs. O. B. Donaho and Miss
Charlotte Bailiff reported on the
Cactus Region conference of Girl
Scouts, in Austin which they at
tended last week. The meeting
was attended also by Mrs. Walter
Heritage, president of the local
Girl Scout Leader’s club.
Mrs. Roy Layton, national presi
dent of Girl Scouts of the United
States of America, told the dele
gates at the convention that “every
meeting of Girl Scouts is not just
a place to go, but a place where a
girl finds herself, develops talents
Wesley Players
To Be Installed
The Drarpa group of the A&M
Wesley foundation will be installed
as Wesley Players at 2:30 p. m.
Sunday, the Rev. Robert C. Monk,
foundation director, has announ
ced.
The Wesley Players is a nation
al religious drama organization
of the Methodist Student move
ment. Students from the Wesley
Players chapter in Denton will be
at the installation service.
Officers of the chapter are Har
old Fox, president, Harry Scott,
vice-president, and Ernestine
Smith, secretary.
The Rev. Monk asked that all
chapter members and anyone in
terested to attend the service and
the reception which will follow.

The keynote of the conference
was “Our American Heritage.” It
was brought out that America is
the ’ result of people from many
countries coming together into a
melting pot.
Local Girl Scouts will participate
in the Christmas parade held by
the Bryan merchants Dec. 3.
Brownie scouts will sing carols be
fore the parade.
Austin Mothers
Sponsor Dance
The Austin A&M Mothers club is
planning a pre-game dance the
night before the A&M-Texas game
at the City coliseum on Barton
Springs road.
The dance will be held from 9
p.m. to 1 a.m. and music will be
furnished by A1 Rubble’s orchestra.
There will also be a midnight yell
practice.
Tickets are $1, stag or couple,
and may be purchased from any
A&M student from Austin. Tick
ets will also be sold in the Me
morial Student Center next week.
The coliseum has been rented for
the entire night and students may
sleep there if they want to, the
mothers club announced.
Petroleum Wives
Wi l l Meet Monday
The Petroleum Wives club will
Jneet Monday at 8 p.m. in the Me
morial Student Center and have as
their guest R. L. Whiting, head of
the petroleum engineering depart
ment.
Whiting will speak to the group
on the various phases of petroleum
engineering and answer questions.
Hostesses for the evening will
be Mrs. Marlene Kubitz and Mrs.
Patricia Cato.
A business meeting will follow
Whiting’s talk. The club will vote
on a constitution and make plans
for the Christmas party to be held
Dec. 11.

Mrs. M. C. Hughes invites all

Bridge Club Meets
Thursday Evening
The Aggie Wives Bridge club
will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in
the Memorial Student Center.
Hostesses for the evening will
be Mrs. Diane Konig and Mrs. Pat
Henderson for the regulars, Mrs.
Mary Jo Boswell and Mrs. Marlys
Johnson for the intermediates ^nd
Mrs. Jean Holcomb and Mrs. Joan
Tieken for the beginners.
Prizes were awarded at the last
meeting to regulars Mrs. Kathryn
Harms, high, and Mrs. Jean Place,
second highest. The intermediate
prizes were won by Mrs. Dorris
Harris, high, and- Mrs. Joan Mil
ler, second highest.
Business Wives
To Meet Monday
The Business Wives club met in
the YMCA Monday night and play
ed bridge.
Refreshments of cookies and coke
were served by hostesses Mrs.
Catherine Ncinast and Mrs. Joy
Balderach.
The next meeting of the club
will be Dec. 6, in the south solar
ium of the YMCA.
Newman Elected
Charles Newman was elected
president of the Economics club at
a meeting recently. Other officers
are Jimmy Allums, vice-president;
and Jimmy Howell, secretary-treas
urer.
