Church Briefs
Local Churches Set Services
The Wesley Players will present
a dramatic worship program Wed
nesday evening at the regular
meeting of the Wesley foundation.
The production is “The Foot Can
not Say to the Ear.”
A short time will be set aside
for committee meetings at the 7:30
p.m. service. Committee members
are urged to attend.
Friday at 7 p.m. the Wesley
foundation vespers will be held.
The Hillel foundation will meet
at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the
Memorial Student center in rooms
2A and 2B. Marvin Noble will
lead a discussion on “The Bible
and You.”
Refreshments will be served aft
er the program.

A meeting of the church council
will be at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Our
Saviour’s Lutheran church. The
Lutheran Student association will
meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Thursday evening at 7:30 will be
choir rehearsal. Saturday at 8:30
a.m. will be the class instructions
for children’s confirmation.

The “Tamalada”: an annual com
munity Mexican supper will be
served tonight from 5 until 7 p.m.
by the Women’s auxiliary.
Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. the
Church of Christ will have its
weekly prayer meeting. Thursday
morning the ladies Bible class will
meet at 10 a.m.

Local Girl Pledges
In TSCW Club
Miss Sara Puddy, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Puddy, 1505
Sulphur Springs, is a pledge of the
Chaparral Literary-Social club at
Texas State College for Women
Pledges names were released last
week climaxing two weeks of club
rush pai’ties on the TSCW campus.
Pledges will become full-fledged
members at formal initiations this
month.
Literary-social clubs are affil
iated with the Texas Federated
Women’s clubs and their activities
integrated by the Junior Forum on
the campus. The student council
of social activities sponsors a pre
rush week open house honoring
prospective pledges and governs
pledge quotas and pledging rules.
Miss Puddy is a junior speech
therapy major.

AAUP Fall Banquet
Set For Thursday
The Fall Banquet of the A&M
chapter of the American Associa
tion of University Professors will
be in the ballroom of the Memorial
Student center at 7 p.m. Thurs
day.
Dr. Logan Wilson, president of
the University of Texas, will speak
on “Some Observations on Academ
ic Administration.”
Members of the chapter, their
wives, other staff members and
friends who may be interested in
hearing the speaker may purchase
tickets until Tuesday, from offi
cers of the association or assigned
members of various departments of
the college.
Officers of the A&M chapter of
the AAUP are as follows: W. F.
Adams, president; Dr. J. M. Nance,
secretary, treasurer of the local
chapter; Jack Kent, chairman of
programs; Melvin M. Rotsch is in
charge of banquet arrangements,
assisted by Ralph Lee, Dr. John
Sperry, J. F. Adams, and Bill
Moore.

Parnell’s Announce
Birth of Baby Boy
Mr. and Mrs. John Ed Parnell
have announced the birth of their
son Douglas Edward Parnell. He
was bom Sept. 13.
Douglas is the grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. John P. Tucker of Long
view, his maternal grandaparents,
and Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Parnell
of College Station, his paternal
grandparents. E. D. Parnell is an
instructor in 'the poultry husbandry
department.
LECTURE FOR WIVES—The wives of the senior veter
inary students met last night for the second in a series of
lectures prepared especially for them by the professors of
the veterinary department. Subjects, “Bookkeeping and
Clinical Records” and “The Surgical Nurse”, were present
ed by Dr. R. J. Beamer, left. Senior students’ were present-
left to right, bottom row, are Mesdames Ray Murtishaw,
C. E. Willis, Edgar Willmann, Lawrance Pessarra, Frank
Carloss. Second row, Mesdames Frank Sims, F. M. Graves,
Bill Westbrook, C. M. Cocanougher, Warren Criswell, D.
A. Darter, Larry Waidhoter, H. T. Pritchard. Top row,
Mesdames Raymond Fowler, Lawrence Moore, M. A.
Waguespack and Walter Trocquet. Other subjects to be
presented to the wives for this semester and the professors
to give them are as follows: Nov. 15—“Disease Control
Forms and Regulation”, Dr. F. C. Neal and “Conduct of a
Large Animal Practice”, Dr. W. W. Kirkham. Dec. 6—
“Hospital Sanitation and Sterilization of Surgical Equip
ment”, Dr. G. S. Travine. Jan. 17—“Breeds of Farm Live
stock”, Dr. C. M. Patterson. These lectures are held in
the amphitheater of the new Veterinary hospital from
7:30 until 9:30 p.m.
