and a half inning contest, the Fish
were aided by 12 Blinn errors.
Charles Engram, Blinn shortstop,
led the Blinn team with six errors
oh eight chances.
For the Aggies, catcher Bob Gat
tis blasted a 330-foot home run
over the left field fence to score
Bob Holiday ahead of him and give
the Aggies a 2-0 lead. Blinn’s only
runs came in their half of the
fourth .inning when they scored
three runs on 2 hits and four Fish
errors.
In the big bottom of the fourth,
the Fish scored 10 runs on six hits
and five Blinn errors. Sixteen
Fish batters came to the plate in
the fourth. The Fish scored three
more runs in the fifth and two in
the sixth.
The two coaches made an agree
ment at the beginning of the game
that if one of the teams scored as
many as 10 runs, either team could
end the game after that time.

Highland Park (Dallas) won the
state high school swim meet here
Saturday. The Scotties ran up 78
points, 32 points ahead of Lamar
(Houston) who copped 46 for sec
ond.
George MacGregor, captain of
the Scotties, scored a first in the
100 backstroke and a second in the
individual medley to take high
point honors for the visitors. Mike
Lumby was another standout for
the Scotties. He took second in the
200 freestyle and third in the 40
freestyle. Don Woodward took
the 100 freestyle. Highland
Park captured both relays.

TODAY & WEDNESDAY
The Aggies fell 12-0 in Fort
Worth Saturday before the thun
derous bats of the TCU Homed
Frogs for their sixth loss in as
many games.
Two Froggies, Les Mattinson
and right fielder Bob White took
hitting honors, each pickink up four
hits for five trips to the plate.
White had four runs batted in to
his credit as well. Mattinson hit
one of the Frogs’ two doubles.
TCU had 14 hits.
For the Aggies, Coach Beau Bell
switched the lineup in an effort to
bring the slumping Ags out of

their batting doldrums. He didn’t
quite succeed. The Cadets had only
three hits, with centerfielder Fred
Ablon, second baseman Jim Mor
rison and catcher Jim Williams
picking up the only base knocks.
Released thru United Artists
set two of the five records. He
won the 40 freestyle in 19.1 and
the 100 freestyle in 53.7. He set
the records in the preliminaries.
They were 18.5 in the 40 and 53.2
in the 100 freestyle. John Har
rington took third in the 100 back-
stroke for the Tigers.
Tracy Word of Lamar led the
Redskins with a record smashing
victory in the 100 breaststroke. He
set a record of 1:05.5. He also
took a fourth in the individual
medley. Allan Muller was second
in the 40 and third in the individual
medley. They took a second in the
freestyle relay and tied for second
in the medley relay.
Reagan (Houston) -took third in
the meet. George Pardue had the
only gold medal for the Bulldogs.
Albert Stevens of Stephen F.
Austin (Bryan) won the 120 indi
vidual medley and scored a second
in the 100 backstroke. He set a
new record with a 1:18.1 in the in
dividual medley.

The Tiger thinclads took third in
the regional meet with a total of
12 points. Weimar, the winning
team, scored 20 points; second place
Sam Houston high school (San
Antonio) scored 14.
Carter broke the class B state
high jump record with a six foot,
three-fourths leap. The old record
of six feet was set in 1951 by Far
rell of Charlotte.
The old record in high jump for
region 6 was six feet, one-eights
inches, set inl941.
The-Tigers’ 440 yard relay team
set a meet I’ecord of 44.9 in the
preliminaries Saturday mornin
The previous record was 45.9, set
by Ft. Hood in 1952. They broke
their own record in the finals with
a sparkling 44.7.
J. B. Carroll placed third for
Consolidated in the mile run with
a 4:51.8. The winning time in the
mile was 4:49.2.

A&M Soccer Team
Win Championship
The A&M soccer team won the
1954 Texas International soccer
league championship.
The Aggies played 10 games,
winning 8, losing 1, and tieing 1.
They beat Bryan air force base
twice; University of Houston three
times; Mulhauser once; Allen
academy twice; ^Chance - Vought
aircraft once, tied them once, and
lost to them once.
Guillermo Cardenas, senior from
Mexico, D. F. and Juan Letts,
junior from Lima, Peru were co
captains. Others on the starting
line-up were: Guy Fernandez,
Emilio Medina, Jorge Ducos, Don
ald Sw T offord.
Aristide Casas, Mauricio LeSage,
V. M. Artecona, Lee Blocker, Mike
Muyschondt and Ernesto Pabon.
Thirty-three players were on this
year’s squad. Last year there were
18.

The A&M fencing team defeated
Rice 5-0 and the Galveston Buc
caneers 5-4 in epee Saturday at
the Rice gymnasium.
In individual competition, Gus
Wulfman placed second, Jim Pigg
third and Don Burton fourth.
Individual results are as follows:
Wulfman, won 4; Pigg won 3 and
lost 2; Burton won 3 and lost 2.
