Wrestling Team Sets First Tilt A&M’s wrestler's square off in the first match of the year against Texas University in DeWare Field House Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. This will be the sixth time that A&M has faced the Longhorns in wrestling during the past three years, with the Aggies coming out on top five times to the Longhorns one win. A&M’s hopes will rest on the shoulders of the two returning let- termen who have won berths on the hotly contested squad this year. These men: Dick Cappel and Rudy Henson have both done yeoman work for the Aggies in their wrestling careers. Cappel is the only member of the team who has had experience in high school wrestling. Mosher end ed up with 12 points but six of them were in the final two minutes And four of them—the most vital of the night—put Houston within one point with 27 seconds remain ing and then ahead with 16 seconds left. The Aggies had a good shooting night hitting 20 of 50 field goal attempts for an even 40 percent. The visitors hit 16 of 75 for a scant 21 percent. Houston hit 20 of 21 free throws. A&M connected 11 times in 19 attempts from the free lane. Houston’s taller Cougars domi nated the board, grabbing 48 re bounds to 42 for A&M. Addison was brilliant, here too, reaching for 18 rebounds. Big Boys Tops In ’Mural Wrestling EAST HARTFORD, Com). tS>>— Police got a call that a man was chasing a woman along a street. The time was 3 a. m. The investi gating patrolman reported that it was a husband chasing his wife because she refused to cook his breakfast at that hour. The bigger boys dominated In tramural Wrestling on Tuesday 22nd. Fred Heldenfels of A Eng had little trouble in winning a deci sion over Jim Adams of B Inf in the 177 lb. weight class. Bill Nourie of Sq 3 won his second bout of the tournament as he outpointed Joe Jahns of A Cml 8-3. This was Joe’s first loss, but automatically puts him out of the race. Dave Korry of Sq 14 who had previously beaten C. R. Abbey of B Armor, ran into quite a bit of trouble in Charles Nations of Sq. 11 and lost his chance to advance any further. Jerry Keith of Sq 4 gained a berth into the semi-finals of the 177 weight class as he pinned David Bailey of AAA in the time of 0:54.5 seconds. So we have Heldenfels of A Eng against Nourie of Sq 3 and Nation of Sq. 11 against Keith of Sq 4 in the semi-finals on March 2. Ray Winbom of A Cml won his first bout of the year as he pinned S. C. Ferrell of A Inf in 2:55. This matches him against Earl Boykin of W Band who won a decision over Jim Weeks of A Armor. In the only upper class bouts, Jim Horton of ATC pinned Paul Holliday of AFA in just 1:43. The rest of the bouts had to do with the Freshmen wrestlers—most of whom are wrestling for the first time in their lives and are finding out that they are better men than they thought they were. Carleton Hazelwood of Co E outpointed E. L. Tieman of Co. K by 1 small point—the match going all the way with the final score 6-5. S. B. Crockett of Sq. 24 pinned his oppo nent Marvin Linderman of Sq 20 in 1 minute flat. Immediately after this match R. N. June of Sq. 19 earned the right to meet Crockett in the semi-finals by pin ning J. B. Spurlock of Sq. 23 in 1:20.5. Too many defaults occurred in the Fish Heavyweight class as D. B. Ross of Sq 25 failed to keep his appointment with John Huff of Co. D. G. D. Fletcher of Co. H also was conspicuous by his absence as he gave the match to Robert Park of Co. L.
