Foods Group Plans Luncheon Friday The foods group of the College Women’s social club will meet for its monthly luncheon at 1:15 p. m. Friday at the A&M Christian church. Mrs. W. M. Potts will be hostess for the, meeting. Chairmen are Mrs. Fi'ed R. Jones and Mrs. E. B. Middleton. Desserts will be featured in the menu for the luncheon. Geology club meeting. Geology building. John G. Voight, district geologist for Stanolind, will speak on “The Duties and Functions of an Oil Company Geologist.” Accounting society meeting, YM CA chapel. Frank Taylor, partner of Peat, Marwick and Mitchell, will be the guest speaker. WEDNESDAY 7:30 p. m.—Knights of Colum bus, basement of St. Mary’s Chapel. Inventor to Speak To Knife and Fork “New Gadgets” will be the sub ject of Dr. Luther Gable’s talk at a dinner dance of the College Sta- tion-Bryan Knife and Fork club at 7:30 p. m. Thursday at Maggie Parker’s dining hall in Bryan. Gable, a native of Chicago, is an inventor and physicist on leave from the faculty of the American Television Institute of Technology. In his talk he will explain in non-technical terms fluorescent lights, radio, television, sound navigation and radio «onar. Gable is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers. The Knife and Fork club meets for dinner dances once a month, alternating between College Sta tion and Bryan. President this year is Dr. George Potter of the biology de partment. Two hundred couples are members of the club. Houston Club Plans Dance With Tessies The Houston hometown clubs of A&M and TSCW will join for a Christmas dance at 8 p. m. Mon day, Dec. ■ 21 at the Blossom- Heathe night club in Houston. The plans were announced at a meeting of the A&M Houston hometown club last week following a conference between Rick Black, president of the A&M club, and a delegation from TSCW. At last week’s meeting final plans were also completed for the annual Houston Aggie Christmas dance Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Braeburn country club. Buddy Brock and his orchestra will furnish the music. Black announced a called meet ing of the club for next Tuesday in the Civil Engineering lecture room. Church Briefs Bible Study Starts Wednesday A Wednesday evening Bible study group will have its first meeting at the A&M Christian church at 7:15 p. m. Wednesday. For the first program a study of the Christmas stoi’y in the early chapters of Luke, Matthew and Mark will be held. Meetings will be informal and a coffee hour will be held. Howard Tiller, president of the Disciples Student fellowship, will be in charge of the meeting. —0— Jacob Pegler of Israel will be the speaker for the meeting of the Hillel foundation at 7:15 p.m. Wed nesday in rooms 2A and 2B of the Memorial Student Center. Stone (2-7165) are re presentatives to call from the Federated Church Women of Bry an. ^Oedipus’ Casting To Be Held Tonight Casting for “Oedipus Rex” by Sophocles, the next Aggie Playey production, starts Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. in the Music hall. Anyone may try out, said C. K. Esten, director. It will be staged in the Me morial Student Center about the middle of March, Esten said. The play will be done in the round with Greek classic style, costumes and stage settings. A Greek chorus will be used, and parts are open in the chorus and the cast for both men and women. Newman Club Elects Wood New Sponsor Dr. Paul J. Woods of the history department was elected Newman club faculty sponsor at a recent meeting of the Catholic student’s organization. Woods, graduate of the Uni versity of Illinois, has been teach ing at A&M since 1946.
