MSC Has
Complaint
Department
The Memorial Student Cen
ter has a complaint depart
ment,
it’s called the public rela
tions committee and has the
sole duty of bettering the rela
tions among the MSC, A&M stu
dents and other colleges.
Headed by Charlie Parker, chair
man, and C. C. (Chuck) Neighbors,
vice chairman, the committee is
composed of 15 members.
Its biggest problem is to con
vince students that the MSC is
not a “state-run hotel,” Parker
said.
“The MSC is run by the college,
and it’s for extra - curricular
activities of the students,” he said.
“It gives the students a place to go
for culture, education or just a
place to relax.”
During football season, the com
mittee invites the visiting col
lege’s student center members to
the MSC for coffee, where they
discuss each other’s problems.
Members write press releases to
state newspapers, and conduct the
“Show Time From the Center”
radio program.
The program is broadcast twice
a week. It presents classical music
on Monday and features local
talent on Wednesday. The broad
cast is at 4:30 p. m. each day.
The committee is also in charge
of the annual pipe smoking con
test each spring, distributing
brochures, pamphlets about stu
dent activities at the Center and
other public relations wm'k.
The committee meets at 7:30 p.
m. every other Tuesday in the MSC
directorate office.
