A&M s football team went
through an offensive drill yester
day, their first heavy exercise of
the week, in preparation for the
traditional Thanksgiving Day
game with the University of Texas.
The Aggies Tuesday listened to
scouting reports and saw movies of
the Rice game.
Quarterback Don Ellis tuned up
his passing arm in yesterday’s
drill, warming up for his last col
lege football game. He climbed
■''yom 16th to 10th nationally in
vtai offense and from 9th to 6th in
jfcjrsing after the Rice game.
Ellis now has gained 1,019 yards
on 274 rushing and passing plays.
He has completed 70 of 161 passes
for 880 yards and 4 touchdowns.
In the Southwest conference,
Ellis is first in passing, second in
total offense-, 6th in punt returns,
5th in kickoff returns, 3rd in pass
interceptions and 4th in scoring.
Backs Bob Easley and Connie
Magouirk also- can be expected to
give the tough .Texas defense a
thorough test. Easley is 9th in con
ference rushing, with 245 yards,
and Magouirk is 10th, with 236
yards. -
Guards Phil Branch and Herb
Gray and ends Carleton Massey
and Giliner Spring are some of the
outstanding names in the Texas
line.
The Steer backfield doesn’t have
any of the national leaders, but
Dougal Cameron and Ed Kelley are
two of the hardest running backs
in the SWC.

Tigers Can
Wrap Up Title
With Tomhall Win Friday
The undefeated A&M Consoli
dated high school Tigers go after
the undisputed district 25-A title
Friday night when they play Tom-
ball on Tiger field.
Kickoff time is 8 p. m.
Consolidated cinched a tie for
the district championship when
.they beat Bellville 19-14 Friday in
their toughest game of the season.
They have won nine straight
games.
The Tigers have rolled up 354
points and 2.781 yards this season
for an average of 42.6 points and
309 yards per game. The opposi
tion has scored only 35 points and
has gained 1,168 yards, an average
of 4 points and 130 yards per game.
Fullback David Bonnen is the
team’s leading scorer, with 12
touchdowns. He scored twice
against Bellville, including the
wining touchdown.
Fish Close With Shorthorns
The Freshmen football team
closes out the season Satui’day
with the University of Texas
Shorthorn., in Austin.
The Fish have a season record
of one van, two losses and a tie
to a 1-3 0 Shorthorn record.
Cjach Willie Zapalac will pro
bably start Bobby Holliday at
qixarterback; Bobby Keith and Don
Carpenter at halfbacks; and Jack
Pardee at fullback.
In the line it will be Eugene
Stallings and John Ray, ends;
Bobby Lockett and Houston Green, i Martin, guards; and Walter Grif-
tackles; Bennie Bloomer and Jim I fith, centei’.
