These birds are a mutant strain origi nating from a strain of chickens believed to come from Peru. One of these green egg laying strains has absolutely no color in its body and is snow white. These chickens are used in gene tic experiments because they pos sess genes which can be used as marker genes or genetic markers. Dr. W. E. Briles, poultry gene ticist of the A&M College Poultry Department, had the eggs from which the birds were hatched ship ped in from another breeding farm. Senior Court Recommends Penalty to Commandant Senior Court members for the first semester will be appointed approximately one week after classwork begins, said Col. Joe E. Davis, commandant. A minimum of nine senior ca det officer's selected by the Com mandant on the basis of at least three from each cadet regiment will compose the court. Member's are appointed for one semester only, and they may be dropped from the court at any time by the Co-mmandant. The Senior Court has the power to try any member of the Corps of Cadets for any offense made punishable by the Articles of the Cadet Corps, except as specifically noted in college regulations. Cannot Punish The court itself does not have the power to punish anyone placed before it, but recommends punish ment to the Commandant. No sen tence is effective until approved by him. The Senior Court may recom mend nine different official forms of punishment. These various forms are: • The court may recommend that the person be given an offi cial written reprimand by the Com- rirandant with a copy to be for warded to his pai'ents or guardian. ® It may recommend that the person be restricted to the campus or company area for a period not exceedirrg four and one half months. Those cadets receiving sentences who are not subject to extra duty tours will report hourly to the Cadet Officer of the Day. • Termination of a person’s contract or the busting of cadet officers and noncommissioned offi cers to the rank of private or both also may be recommended by the court. • The court may recommend assessment of demerits, but may not assess a number that woiild cause the total against the ac cused to exceed the maximum which could be walked off during the remainder of the school year. • A person may be removed from the Cadet Corps upon rec ommendation of the Senior Court and he will be required to live out side the corps for any period the court may direct. He will not be permitted to enter any cadet dor mitory until re-instated unless spe cific permission is granted by the Commandant. • The court may recommend that a cadet be placed on conduct probation for one year or military probation for two years. © In case of a serious viola tion, the court may forward to the Dean of Men through the Com mandant, a recommendation to drop the accused from the rolls of the college. ® In case of serious military misdemeanors, a cadet may be rec ommended to face a military panel.
