Aggies \\ ill T ry To End
LIT Title Drive Here
Rain caused the cancellation of
today’s baseball game with Texas
on the Aggie diamond, but Jerry
Nelson still gets the call to pitch
the opening game of the series at
3 tomorrow afternoon.
Melvin Work has been named by
Coach Beau Bell to start the Sat
urday game, scheduled to begin at
2, as the Aggies try to knock the
Longhorns out of a first place tie
in the conference standings.
Firmly entrenched in fourth
place in conference standings, the
Aggies are not likely to move
either up or down as a result of
the two games with Texas today
and tomorrow. A victory in either

The Aggies will probably be fav

in the event.
Other Cadet track stars who will

game would be a pleasing finish
to an otherwise disappointing sea
son, so the starting nine may be
freely shuffled as the Cadets try
to chalk up a win.
Behind the plate, either Jerry
Robinett or Jimmy Williams may
get the call to start. Williams is
an outstanding defensive catcher,
while Robinett is capable of hitting
the long ball.
On first, Captain Bill Munner-
lyn and Sam Rowland are both
good defensive men, and Bell will
select the one he considers most
likely to deliver base blows.
Charles Leissner has played well
at second all season, and is expect
ed to start there.
The shortstop assignment has
gone to Don Heft in recent games,
and he will probably start, al
though Don Ellis also plays the
position very well and may start.
Jerry Lestelick is the probable
third base choice, with Jim Par
rish ready to take over if called.
In the outfield, Lester Byrd,
Bobby Farmer, and Eric Miller are
the regular starters, but any of
them may give way to such play
ers as Fred Ablon, David Verble,
and Frank Pollard.

sales will go to the teen-age base
ball, league of College Station, said
Ernest Gregg, member of the
board of directors of the league.
