Leroy Miksch Hillhouse Selected All-Army for 1952 Andy Hillhouse, All-SWC end for the Aggie football team in 1950, has been named to the second annual All-Army team by the Army Times, na tional newspaper for the Army. Hai’ry Stietler was the head mentor who tutored Hillhouse. This is the Aggie-ex’s second year to make the all-star squad, playing for Camp Polk. His home is in Alvin. Ken Shobe, who played on the Aggie Fish team before entering the service, made fullback on the second team. Shobe is from Hous ton. The Times announced the squad following a two-month long poll which found more than 8200 sold iers voting for their favorite play ers on Army football teams. Arnold Galiffa, West Point quarterback of the Blanchard- Davis era, starred for the Head quarters and Service Command Athletics in Japan this year, and made the first string. Every member of the first three teams played college ball with the exception of Sgt. Sammy Rey nolds, Fort Eustis, Va., back, one of the leading vote-getters in the p^ll. Reynolds, a Negro, has play ed for Army teams since 1946. At Eustis he was the star of a strong team which included several fox- mer All-Americans. All-Army 1952 Pos. Players College Ht. Wt. A&M missed nine basket attempts as the clock showed three minutes and 40 seconds of scoreless ball. The Aggies held the lead from that first basket until Trinity eas ed ahead by a 29-28 margin with two minutes left in the second quarter. Leroy (Hawk) Miksch, Aggie high point man with 19 tallies, was a terror under both baskets as he almost personally conti’olled the rebounds and racked up 13 points in the first half. With the scoreboai-d reading 33- 30 for Trinity at half-time, the Ag's returned to rattle the nets with a series of outside shots by Don Binford to ease hack into the lead with 8:42 left in the last quarter. Binford, with 15 point for his night’s work, sank five quick bas kets to lead the Aggie surge to the front, and they decided to pro tect the 57-55 lead they had with over three minutes left to play. The Cadets began to freeze the ball, and a Trinity foul, with a technical foul added for over-pro- testing, gave Don Heft three shots with 23 seconds left in the game. He calmly sank all three to wind up the scoring for the night, and the Aggies won by a five point margin. Rodney Pirtle, sophomore for- ward, played an outstanding game and sank four baskets and three gratis shots for 11 points. Don Moon scored six points and played a strong defensive game to break up several Trinity thrusts down court. Don Heft, with seven points, and Bob Johnson, who scored two, rounded out the Aggie scoring. High point man for Trinity Uni versity was Bubba Reed, who chalked up 19 points to match the Miksch total. The Aggies look forward to the December 22nd meeting with Col orado A&M at DeWare Field House with a season record of three wins and one loss. Following the Colorado A&M game, the Aggies rest while wait ing for the SWC tournament which starts at Dallas Dec. 26. They will faije the SMU quintet in the tourney opener.
