Irish Meet Best in Land Michigan State SOUTH BEND, Nov. 13— UP)—Coach Frank Leahy of NotreDame has always said he’d like his Irish to play the best in the land. But he probably never thought the best in the land would be standing in line to take crack at the Irish. That has come to pass this season. After battling to upset victories over three of the 10 top teams in the current AP poll—Texas, Pur due and Oklahoma—the Irish Sat urday come to grips with the na tion’s No. 1 team, Michigan State’s awesome Spartans. .Whether they are licking their wounds in joy or sorrow after the visitation to the East Lansing arena of the Spartans, Leahy’s lads can’t call for an Irish lulla- bye. No, there is also the grand fi nale, Nov. 29 in Notre Dame Sta dium against Southern California, unbeaten, untied and boldly plant ed in the AP poll’s fifth spot. All this rigorous exercising is one reason ardent Irish support ers think Notre Dame might fol low its amazing hay -maker against Oklahoma with an even greater upset against Michigan State. Tigers (Continued from page 4) to be listed in Class AA due to enrollment—Probably Bellville and Navasota.” Only one starter will be lost next year. He will be a senior but two weeks too old to compete. Consolidated winds up the sea son here next week against Mag nolia. “That’ll be a rough one,” Cha- fin moaned, “because Magnolia gets better with every game they play.” The Tigers will be district oo- champions if they take the two re maining games, although Hemp stead will represent the district in bi-district play. The tie game be tween the Tigers and Hempstead went to Hempstead on penetra tions. *trr, SELL, KENT OK TRADE. Kates. , . . . 3o a word per Insertion with a |5o minimum.
