We could flutter our lids till our eye
balls ached and it wouldn’t help. Our
Prof is strictly business. He’s the public.
Every 6 months Bell Telephone Com
panies ask the public for their grades. It’s
done by opinion surveys. We ask thou
sands of customers to tell us what they
think of our service. On the basis of their
reports we try to improve where they think
we could be doing better. Subsequent
surveys show us if we’ve been successful.
This search for better ways of serving
people is only one aspect of the Bell Sys
tem business philosophy. It underlies our
constant search for ways to provide ever-
better telephone service at the lowest
possible cost.
For qualified college people interested
in engineering, operations and adminis
tration, we offer many opportunities. We
believe you’ll be interested to learn what
we mean.
Your college placement office will be
glad to give you more details.

Boys and girls like the two in
this picture are the raw materials
from which good citizens are
made. They hold the keys of to
morrow and are the hope of Amer
ica and the world.
As they grow older, they will acquire knowl
edge and receive training designed to fit them
for the duties and responsibilities of life.
They will realize that they have an important
stake in government and in human society as
a whole.
But they must be trained—and must train
themselves—to meet these responsibilities as
they develop. They must be taught that obedi
ence to law and respect for the rights of
others is essential to the common good.
There is no better training in the elements
of good citizenship than is embodied in the
teachings of the Church and the great prin
ciples of the Bible. They are the touchstone
of good citizenship and the spiritual basis of
our inherited faith.
