Action to name the building the “Gibb Gilchrist Engineering Building” was taken by the Prairie View Alumni and Ex-Students’ Association. Their action was ap proved by Pres. E. B. Hardesty Club Advisor Student Activities BAFB Men Sign For Night School Seventy-one officers and air men from Bryan Air Force Base have enrolled for night classwoi’k at A&M. Lt. Phil Gary, education officer, said the enrollment was consider ably lower than last year. In all, eight classes, meeting, two bights a ween, are in progress. They include public speaking, ed ucational psychology, general psychology, French and two class es each in English composition and algebra. The algebra class has the most students with 25, while 20 are tak ing English Composition. Top base officers enrolled—all in Public Speaking—are Maj. Wil liam Greenwood, Wing Adjutant; Maj. Joseph Tighe, Manpower and Management Officer; Maj. Joseph Murray, Wing Personnel Officer; and Maj. Thaddeus Peters, Air Provost Marshal and. CO of the Air Police Squadron. Of the 71 taking courses, 46 are airmen and 26 officers. Laboratories in* a one-story wing were built for special purposes such as hydraulics, soils, drawing rooms and materials testing. An other laboratory wing will be erected when funds are available. Contract for the two-story build ing was let in February, 1951, to the Williams Construction Com pany of Houston. Total cost was $239,849. The building contains 16,227 square feet of floor space. A group of people from various walks of life was organized to smoke only Chesterfields. For six months this group of men and women smoked their normal amount of Chesterfields — 10 to 40 a day. 45% of the group have smoked Chesterfields con tinually from one to thirty years for an average of 10 years each. . At the beginning and at the end of the six- months period each smoker was given a thorough •^1% ( nd of the six- v examination, including X-ray pictures, by the medical specialist and his assistants.
